Cases where activities in border areas are restricted or suspended

Clause 1, Article 11 of the 2020 Law on Vietnam Border Guard stipulates cases where activities in the border belt, border areas, and border crossings at border gates and land border openings are restricted or suspended, including:

a) Border and territorial disputes; armed conflicts; enemy intrusion; other activities that threaten national sovereignty, territory and borders;
b) Riots, terrorism, hostage taking, or pursuit of armed criminals occur;
c) Prevent natural disasters, fires, floods, and epidemics from spreading across borders;
d) When there is a request or notice from the Government, local authorities or border management and protection forces of the country sharing the border regarding the restriction or temporary suspension of border crossings.
Clause2, Article 11, Vietnam Border Law stipulates thatRestricted or suspended activities include:
a) Within the border belt: Entering and exiting the border belt, areas with epidemics, fires, floods, and risks of natural disasters; holding markets, organizing festivals; production, business, construction, exploration, and exploitation of resources;
b) In border areas: Entering and leaving border areas, areas with epidemics, fires, floods, and risks of natural disasters; holding markets, organizing festivals; production, business, construction, exploration, and exploitation of resources;
c) Crossing the border at international border gates, main border gates or bilateral border gates, secondary border gates, and openings.
