(Baonghean.vn) - Ong Tho condensed milk bread, a dish associated with the childhood of many generations, once again caused nostalgia and became a "feverish" dish at the 2024 Bread Festival held for the second time in Ho Chi Minh City.

Bread dipped in milk, a childhood dish of many generations

Bread dipped in milk, a simple but familiar dish to many generations of Vietnamese people with the combination of hot, crispy bread and fragrant, fatty condensed milk, is not only a "hunger lifesaver" but also carries the flavor of childhood, and has become a unique culinary feature of Vietnamese people.

From North to South, dishes may not be the same, including pho, but the dish of Ong Tho milk bread dipped in milk has become a common favorite cuisine of all regions.

For the 6x, 7x generations, bread dipped in milk evokes a beautiful, sweet memory. The bread is crispy, fragrant with the smell of freshly baked flour, dipped in Ông Thọ condensed milk available in the house, sweet, melting, fragrant.

Back then, breakfast was not as varied as it is now. In addition to the traditional breakfast of rice, porridge, pho, vermicelli, etc., when we had a change of taste, we got to eat bread dipped in milk, which made children like me light up with deliciousness.

When I was sick and couldn't eat rice, my mother gave me bread to dip in Ông Thọ milk mixed with boiling water. The bread softened quickly and was easy to swallow for people with sore throats or fatigue. Now it suddenly became sweet for people with bitter mouths.

There were nights when I was hungry and heard the call “Who wants hot and crispy bread?” I rushed to the gate to buy a loaf of bread that was still warm and wrapped in a bag, dipped it in Ông Thọ condensed milk, and found it so delicious that I thought there was no other delicacy like it.

After using the milk, the butter tube still regretted not throwing it away, so it became a measuring can for rice or storing things. Nowadays, bread dipped in milk is still a favorite breakfast or snack of many Vietnamese people because of its deliciousness and convenience.

Ông Thọ condensed milk, launched in 1976, has truly become a national brand of Vietnamese people. When mentioning the brand name “ Ông Thọ”, people immediately think of a condensed milk dish that is both fragrant, fatty and smooth.

Nowadays, Ông Thọ milk has become an indispensable ingredient in Vietnamese kitchens, not only used to dip bread but also used daily to prepare other salty and sweet dishes such as marinating grilled meat, spices in curry, seafood dipping sauce, flan, etc.

Ong Tho Milk Bread Sets Record at Bread Festival

The 2024 Bread Festival is an event to honor the unique culinary features of Vietnam as well as honor Ông Thọ milk in the preparation of dishes served with bread with 3 dishes: bread dipped in milk, grilled meat sandwiches marinated in Ông Thọ milk, and duck curry bread cooked with Ông Thọ milk.

Ong Tho's condensed milk bread dish joins in setting a record of 150 bread dishes at the 2024 Bread Festival.

According to chef Vo Thi Huynh Chau:“Coming to the bread festival, I am very proud of Vietnam's culinary culture, with many rich ingredients that help create a diversity of more than 150 delicious dishes served with bread. For example, Ông Thọ condensed milk is a very simple and familiar ingredient that can be eaten directly with bread or used in savory dishes such as grilled meat - served with bread. Ông Thọ condensed milk helps the meat to be softer, more fragrant, and more juicy, and when cooked, it will not be dry, and will not burn when marinated with sugar or honey. This is also the secret to making grilled ribs of the famous broken rice shop owners.”

At the event, the childhood culinary corner of Ông Thọ milk welcomed thousands of customers to experience and "revive" beautiful childhood memories through a series of delicious dishes such as: bread dipped in Ông Thọ condensed milk with strawberry and chocolate flavor, ice cream sandwiches, grilled Vina beef marinated in condensed milk, ... along with activities demonstrating the preparation of dishes made from Ông Thọ milk with famous chefs, performing the "Milk Dipping Dance", creating unique "can decoration" art to help diners have many interesting emotions.
