Accordingly, in the direction of developing functional areas in the region, the Planning orients research and proposes the formation of a number of high-tech zones in Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Thuan and a number of potential areas when ensuring sufficient conditions according to regulations.

The Government also encourages the development of high-tech agricultural and forestry zones in areas with potential and suitable conditions; especially focusing on putting into operation the high-tech forestry zone in Nghe An.

In the direction of forestry infrastructure development, the Regional Planning also determines the construction of a high-tech forestry zone in the region in Nghe An.

To specify the above direction, in the list of expected important programs and projects of the region for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the Government identifies priority investment in high-tech forestry zones in Nghe An province from now to 2030.

Previously, on March 31, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 509/QD-TTg on the establishment of the High-tech Forestry Zone in the North Central region in Nghi Lam, Nghi Van, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Hop, Nghi Xa communes (Nghi Loc district) and Dai Son commune (Do Luong district) with an area of 618 hectares.

This is the first high-tech forestry zone in the country, consisting of 3 main functional sub-zones forming a continuous chain from forestry seedling production; wood and non-timber forest product processing; training high-quality labor resources; to a trading floor combined with an exhibition introducing raw wood and processed products from wood and non-timber forest products.

The application of high technology in the Forestry Zone is an opportunity for Nghe An to effectively exploit forest potential, while attracting businesses to "invest" in developing the forestry industry along the value chain from seed production, developing the wood industry and wood products, to promoting and introducing products when investment projects here enjoy preferential policies.
