On November 11, 2020, the 10th Session of the 14th National Assembly passed the Vietnam Border Law, which takes effect from January 1, 2022. Article 8 of the Vietnam Border Law stipulates the following prohibited acts regarding border protection:

1. Violating national sovereignty and territory; sabotaging and destabilizing security, order and social safety in border areas and border gates.

2. Using or allowing the use of Vietnam's border areas to sabotage or interfere with other countries; threatening to use or using force in border relations.

3. Impersonating an agency, organization or person performing border guard duties; resisting, obstructing, retaliating against, threatening, violating the life, health, or insulting the honor and dignity of a person performing border guard duties.

4. Bribing, enticing, enticing or forcing border guards to violate the provisions of law.

5. Taking advantage of or abusing the performance of border guard duties to violate the law, infringe upon the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of agencies, organizations, and individuals.

6. Gender discrimination, division, discrimination based on ethnicity, race, nationality, belief, religion, and educational level in the performance of border guard duties.

7. Producing, using, buying, selling, exchanging, transporting, or disseminating false information or images about national sovereignty, territory, or borders.
