Complete the mission of searching and gathering martyrs in the dry season 2023 - 2024

On the afternoon of June 13, Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province held a conference to summarize the work of searching for and gathering martyrs in the dry season of 2023 - 2024.

Attending and directing the conference were Colonel Pham Van Dong - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Military Region 4, Permanent Deputy Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4.

The conference was chaired by comrades: Doan Hong Vu - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Colonel Nguyen Ky Hong - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and representatives of a number of relevant departments, branches and localities.

In the 2023 - 2024 dry season, the Collection Team, Nghe An Provincial Military Command was assigned to organize forces to search and collect the remains of 80 martyrs of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts who died in the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane and Xay Som Bun, Lao People's Democratic Republic and the graves of martyrs in Nghe An province.

To complete the assigned tasks, in the past time, the Provincial Steering Committee 515 and directly the Provincial Military Command - the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee 515 have regularly disseminated and seriously implemented the Decision of the Military Region 4 Command and the directives and instructions of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and Steering Committee 515 at all levels on the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains.

In addition, we have focused on innovating methods of propaganda and information reception; mobilizing organizations and individuals, especially veterans, to provide information about martyrs and martyrs' graves; closely surveying sources of information about martyrs' graves as a basis for developing a collection plan; perfecting the system of books and documents about martyrs, assigning responsible officers, and improving the effectiveness of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the three provinces: Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xay Som Bun.

During the deployment process, the Provincial Military Command advised the Provincial Special Task Force to hold talks with the Special Task Force of the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xay Som Bun to discuss measures to coordinate the implementation of the task of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts in the dry season of 2023 - 2024.

At the end of the 2023 - 2024 dry season, the collection team surveyed, searched, excavated and collected 87/80 martyrs' remains, reaching 108.7% of the plan, of which Xieng Khouang province collected 75/71 remains, reaching 105.6%; Vientiane province collected 03/03 remains, reaching 100%; Xay Som Bun province collected 09/06 remains, reaching 150%.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel Pham Van Dong - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Military Region 4, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4 highly appreciated the Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province for being proactive in developing plans and implementing tasks.

Besides, the sense of responsibility and efforts to overcome difficulties of the staff of the Provincial Military Command's Collection Team were acknowledged.

In the coming time, in the context of increasingly difficult work in searching and collecting martyrs' remains, in order to successfully complete the task, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4 - Colonel Pham Van Dong suggested that the Provincial Steering Committee 515 should continue to thoroughly grasp the Party and State's policies and guidelines on searching and collecting martyrs' remains.

In addition, effectively organize activities to search, collect and identify the remains of martyrs with missing information, strengthen and promote the role and responsibility of the Steering Committee and standing agencies, and strengthen the force performing search tasks.

At the same time, pay attention to taking care of and ensuring timely and adequate policies for the forces on duty; do well in military diplomacy and people's diplomacy, promote activities to help the Friends in order to constantly consolidate and strengthen the special friendship and great solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, the Ministry of National Defense awarded a Certificate of Merit to the collection team and to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Che Ngoc Ha - Team Leader for his outstanding achievements in searching and collecting martyrs' graves in 2023.

The Provincial People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives and 6 individuals for their outstanding achievements in searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the 2023-2024 dry season.

25 other collectives and individuals were also awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial Military Command for their work in searching and collecting remains./.
