Nghe An police dismantled a gambling den in the forest with many subjects having criminal records.
The Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police is temporarily detaining 18 subjects involved in gambling and organizing large-scale gambling led by many subjects with criminal records.
Through the work of grasping the situation, the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police discovered a large-scale mobile gambling ring with very sophisticated and professional methods and tricks led by Dang Thanh Bang (born 1987), residing in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city.
Having paid the price for the “black, red” game, which resulted in two previous convictions for gambling, Bang still did not repent. To have money to spend, Bang colluded with four people residing in Nghi Loc district to set up a gambling den and organize gambling.
It is worth mentioning that all 4 subjects chosen by Bang as "partners" in organizing gambling have many criminal records for many crimes, including: Nguyen Thuc Cuong (born in 1979), residing in Nghi Truong commune (has 1 criminal record for Gambling); Nguyen Thuc Quang (born in 1990), residing in Nghi Truong commune (has 1 criminal record for Illegal possession of narcotics); Le Van Viet (born in 1985), residing in Nghi Phong commune (has 2 criminal records for Intentional infliction of injury) and Pham Ngoc Dat (born in 2000), residing in Nghi Trung commune (has 2 criminal records for "Disturbing public order, illegal possession of narcotics" and "Receiving property obtained by others through crime").
After setting up a closed gambling network with "effective associates", Dang Thanh Bang organized for the subjects to participate in gambling according to specific rules set by Bang that all "gamblers" who wanted to participate had to comply with.
Accordingly, every time a gambler wants to play, they all have to park their vehicles at a centralized location. Then, Bang asks the gamblers to hand over their phones, before Bang's juniors take the gamblers around many places to avoid detection by the police.
For those who come to participate for the first time, Bang requires that they be sponsored by a previous gambler, otherwise they will not be able to enter. In addition, this group of people often changes their phone numbers, means of transportation, and gambling locations, operating mainly in mountainous areas, far from residential areas, bordering Dien Chau, Nghi Loc districts, Vinh city and some districts of Ha Tinh province bordering Nghe An province; each gambling session is only held for 1.5 to 2 hours.
After choosing a location, Bang assigned his subordinates to keep watch. If any abnormalities were detected, the gamblers were notified to destroy the evidence and disperse. Although the operation had only been organized for a short time, due to its secretive and sophisticated organization, Bang's gambling den attracted dozens of gamblers in the province to participate.
Faced with the above situation, the Criminal Police Department reported and asked for direction from the Provincial Police Leadership to establish a special project to combat and stop the activities of the group of subjects.
After a period of monitoring and synchronous application of professional measures, on June 18, 2024, in the acacia hill area of Dien Loi commune, Dien Chau district, the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with relevant units, synchronously deployed professional measures, successfully eradicated the gambling ring led by Dang Thanh Bang, and arrested 18 subjects related to the acts of organizing gambling and gambling.
At the scene, police seized more than 250 million VND in cash; 21 mobile phones; many cars and related evidence.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the Criminal Police Department.
