In the highlands, it is not uncommon for families with "Three generations under one roof" or "Four generations under one roof" to live together happily and with laughter. Among them is the family of Mr. Lo Minh Nguyen (born in 1942), residing in Nhan village, Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district - one of the typical "four generations under one roof" families. The extended family still lives under one roof every day, the family atmosphere is always warm and harmonious. Mr. Nguyen shared: "Currently, my wife and I are living with my second son and his wife, my grandson and his wife, my granddaughter and great-grandson. I always pay attention to teaching my children and grandchildren to behave politely and be filial to their grandparents and parents. In the family, we always treat each other fairly, without distinguishing between biological children or daughters-in-law. That is the factor that helps my family to always be warm and happy." Ms. Vi Thi Sen has been married to Mr. Nguyen for 30 years now, but has almost never made her parents-in-law sad. When asked about the secret to a happy family, Ms. Sen said: "From small to large, my husband and I have to discuss and exchange everything, then ask for their opinions before doing it. Living with my parents-in-law, there has never been any conflict or gossip. I always consider my mother-in-law as my biological mother and am truly grateful to her." Photo: Dinh Tuan

"From ancient times until now, many people still think that mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law cannot get along with each other. However, after more than 10 years of being a daughter-in-law, living with my father and mother-in-law under the same roof, my family is very harmonious and always full of laughter, even my mother-in-law loves her daughter-in-law very much, considering her as her own daughter" - Ms. Vi Thi Hien in Ban Can, Tam Thai commune said. Ms. Lo Thi Binh (66 years old), in Nhan village, Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district said: “A family of 3 generations living together, if we do not behave properly, it is easy for conflicts to arise, so my family always reminds our children and grandchildren to respect and be polite to their grandparents and work together to build a harmonious and warm family. Thanks to that, my parents-in-law both live very long lives. My mother-in-law is 104 years old this year but she is still lucid, helping me pick vegetables and do light chores around the house every day, and my father-in-law just passed away last year, at the age of 107”.
