According to TASS news agency, at a press briefing on July 2 (Washington time), Pentagon Press Secretary Patrick Ryder stated that the US government considers attacking Crimea with US weapons acceptable.

“I can only say that our policy on the use of long-range weapons against Russia has not changed, which is that long-range weapons must be used within the sovereign territory of this country,” said Pentagon press secretary Patrick Ryder. At the same time, answering a question clarifying the Pentagon's position on Crimea, Mr. Ryder said that, for the US, “Crimea is part of Ukraine.”

On the same day, TASS quoted Russian State Duma (Lower House) MP Mikhail Sheremet, who is also a member of the Security and Anti-Corruption Committee of this legislative body, as saying that the US leadership's permission to attack Crimea demonstrated Washington's large-scale involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

“This speaks of the large-scale involvement of the United States and its intention to further flare up the conflict, with the aim of turning it into a full-scale war, against the backdrop of the collapse of the Ukrainian government,” said MP Sheremet.

According to Mr. Sheremet, Washington is interested in global upheavals in Europe, in order to divert the attention of the American people from their own impending political scenario.

To achieve this goal, the US needs “tragedy and bloodshed” from others to scare its own citizens, Sheremet said. However, according to Sheremet, this scenario will certainly not work with Russia, it will only accelerate the end of the conflict that Washington has provoked. And this will have a big impact on the US.
