Ways to prevent rust on your car.

Over time, many parts of a car will oxidize and rust, so measures are needed to help prevent or minimize rust.

Oxidation leading to rust is a common problem with all older cars, but whether it happens sooner or later depends on the owner's habits and maintenance. When rust occurs, the car deteriorates quickly. Furthermore, a rusted body frame makes the car look very unsightly and significantly affects its appearance.

In fact, rust can appear on any old car. Whether it appears sooner or later depends on many factors such as: age, material quality, driving style, climate, terrain, and especially how well the owner takes care of it.

The following actions will help to reduce this.

Wash and dry the car thoroughly.

Experts say that dirt and especially the high salt content in coastal areas can cause cars to rust quickly. Therefore, regularly or periodically washing your car with clean water, then drying all the nooks and crannies using specialized car wash cloths and an air blower is an effective way to protect your vehicle.

Washing your car after every long trip also helps prevent dirt from sticking to the paint surface, which is a leading cause of oxidation. Therefore, before storing your car, you should wash it thoroughly and dry it completely.

Exterior polishing

Exterior polishing not only makes the car's exterior shiny but also applies a protective chemical coating to the paint, preventing rust and keeping the paint color looking new. Regular polishing, approximately every four months, is recommended to keep the car looking new and minimize rust.

Park your car in a dry and well-ventilated area.

Rust can result from the accumulation of moisture in the external environment, so parking your car in a dry place, away from rain and high humidity, is very important.

A well-ventilated garage with a roof and surrounding walls is ideal for storing a car. If such a parking space is not available, car owners can invest in a car cover to best protect their vehicle from oxidation.

Use anti-rust spray.

If you don't have a specialized wax coating on your car, another option is to use anti-rust spray solutions; the kind commonly used for industrial machinery is also a great way to protect your vehicle.

This type of sprayer also has a small, long nozzle that can reach into the nooks and crannies of the car.

Underbody rust protection coating

One way to prevent car rust is to apply a protective coating of paint or rubber undercarriage to prevent rust and reduce noise while driving. This is because the undercarriage is frequently exposed to dirty water and mud.

Applying a specialized undercoating to a car's undercarriage provides oxidation and rust resistance, reduces scratches and paint cracks, and protects the vehicle from natural corrosion.

Clean up immediately after being in the rain.

Rainwater contains many impurities and may even contain acid. This is the reason why the paint on the metal surfaces of cars corrodes, leading to rust. Therefore, you should wash your car immediately after driving in the rain, or at least rinse it with clean water to remove any remaining rainwater.

Repair and promptly detect rust and peeling paint.

After each car wash, keep an eye out for any paint chipping or rust, scratches, or other damage appearing under the vehicle or on the bodywork. Check the condition of the drain holes, seals, and rubber gaskets. If water accumulates in these areas, rust may begin to form, which is difficult to detect with the naked eye.

Dehumidify the car storage space.

Many car owners have a habit of parking their cars outdoors or under awnings for convenience. On humid days, combined with heavy rain, the car can easily become damp and moldy. Over time, this can lead to corrosion and rust on parts under the chassis and inside the car's compartments.

The solution to prevent this is to park your car indoors (in a dedicated parking space) or clean the car's interior with specialized interior cleaning solutions combined with car deodorizing using a deodorizing machine and dehumidifier. This will help reduce the risk of mold and rust in the car.
