National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visits and presents gifts to meritorious people in Nghe An

Take care of policy families and meritorious people regularly with practical work.

Speaking at the award ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent his warm regards to policy families and outstanding revolutionary contributors in Anh Son district.

The whole country currently has 9.2 million families with revolutionary contributions, including 1.2 million families of martyrs, nearly 500,000 relatives of martyrs and 117,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, about 600,000 war invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids.

With the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", showing gratitude, the Party and State always care for families with meritorious services and people with many preferential policies such as supporting housing construction, creating conditions for families to borrow capital to develop the economy, helping children of families with meritorious services to have a full education, health care policies... On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, President To Lam signed Decision No. 590/QD-CTN on giving gifts to more than 1.3 million people with meritorious services, with a total amount of 420 billion VND.

Nghe An is one of three provinces in the country with a large number of families of people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs and war invalids, with 65,147 families of people with revolutionary contributions, including about 29,619 war invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids, 9,051 sick soldiers and about 13,000 people infected with Agent Orange.

The National Assembly Chairman commended the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and all levels and sectors of Nghe An province for mobilizing all resources every year to take care of families with revolutionary contributions and policy families, with a total amount of about 150 billion VND.

However, a number of policy families in the country in general and in Nghe An in particular still face many difficulties. Therefore, in addition to the attention of the Party and the State, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that Nghe An province should actively mobilize resources so that the attention and care is not only reserved for War Invalids and Martyrs Day, holidays, New Year, and anniversaries, but must be regular and continuous, especially for war invalids, sick soldiers, and policy families in difficult circumstances.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also requested Nghe An province to continue implementing Directive No. 14-CT/TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over families of people with revolutionary contributions; along with that, strongly promote the movement to care for war invalids, relatives of martyrs, families of people with revolutionary contributions... through practical actions.

Comrade Tran Thanh Man also requested Nghe An province to soon implement the policy of adjusting salary increases, especially for retirees, beneficiaries of social allowances, allowances for meritorious people, and social beneficiaries, which has taken effect from July 1, 2024.

In addition, continue to commend and reward collectives and individuals who have contributed to the gratitude movement, the movement to support families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services; promptly commend and reward families of war invalids and martyrs who have overcome difficulties to rise up.

During his working trip to Nghe An, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wished the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An province in general and Anh Son district in particular to achieve many good results in 2024 to prepare for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and the election of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation presented 20 gifts to policy families and outstanding revolutionary contributors in Anh Son district and witnessed the awarding of 1 billion VND to build 20 houses for policy families in the district.

Spread many movements and campaigns

Speaking at the award ceremony, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy respectfully thanked the National Assembly Chairman for his deep affection and timely attention to the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province on this occasion, including policy families and exemplary meritorious people of Anh Son district.

Reporting to the National Assembly Chairman and the working delegation, comrade Thai Thanh Quy said: In recent years, under the direct leadership of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, the enthusiastic and responsible support and coordination of ministries, departments, branches and central agencies, together with the efforts and strivings of the Party Committee and the People, Nghe An province has achieved many important results in economic and social development, ensuring national defense, security, Party building and the political system.

The head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee affirmed that in recent years, along with economic and social development, Nghe An province has always paid attention to and determined the task of implementing policies for people with revolutionary contributions as both a sentiment and a responsibility, a very important main task.

Therefore, along with the correct, sufficient and timely implementation of the regimes and policies according to the regulations of the Party and the State, the Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels are very active, proactive, closely coordinated and launched many movements and campaigns to have more resources to provide better care, support and pay more attention to policy families and families of war invalids and martyrs.

The most typical ones include the campaign for the whole province to participate in the "Repaying gratitude" Fund; taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers; caring for and supporting families of seriously wounded soldiers and parents of martyrs who are still facing many difficulties; helping families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to overcome hunger and reduce poverty...

“It is from these very methodical and active campaigns that have spread widely throughout the province, becoming a cultural beauty of the people of Nghe An,” said comrade Thai Thanh Quy, adding that from the mobilized resources, the province has built and repaired 16,000 houses of gratitude, awarded nearly 24,000 savings books to families of people with revolutionary contributions, and all heroic Vietnamese mothers have been taken care of.

The province also built, upgraded and repaired more than 1,000 cemeteries, memorials and steles recording the names of heroic martyrs; at the same time, directed the implementation and collection of more than 14,000 remains of volunteer soldiers who died in Laos for burial, including burial at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery.

On the occasion of July 27 this year, according to the plan, the whole province will visit and give gifts to nearly 96,000 policy families, meritorious people in difficult circumstances, with a total budget and socialized amount of over 30 billion VND.

Seriously accepting and fully understanding the opinions of the National Assembly Chairman, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy emphasized: The Party Committee and People of Nghe An province promise to continue to unite, unify, and complete the identified goals and tasks, including the task of implementing well the regimes and policies for people with revolutionary contributions.

In the coming time, Nghe An province hopes that the Chairman of the National Assembly, the Committees and agencies of the National Assembly will continue to pay attention to leading, directing and helping the province, so that Nghe An can successfully complete the goals of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, Resolution 39 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution 36 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province and Resolution 137 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province in the coming time.
