Vietnam team will face Thailand next September
To best prepare for the official tournaments taking place at the end of 2024, the Vietnamese team is expected to have a friendly match with the Thai team next September.
The upcoming FIFA Days in September is an opportunity for national teams around the world to have international matches. The Vietnamese team will not miss this opportunity to play friendly matches to review their squad, strengthen their playing style, and prepare for official tournaments in the near future.
According to Asean Football, the Vietnamese team is scheduled to have a friendly match at home against the Thai team next September. This team is ranked 100th in the world, while the Vietnamese team is ranked 116th.

In recent years, sports in general and football in particular between Vietnam and Thailand have always been fierce rivals, and are also the strongest in Southeast Asia.
The encounters between football teams, especially men's football, in the past have always created great attraction, whether in official tournaments or friendly matches.
In the history of confrontations between Vietnam and Thailand, the team from the Golden Temple has a big advantage. Since 2002, the Vietnamese and Thai teams have met a total of 19 times. Of which, the "War Elephants" won 11 matches, drew 6 matches and lost 2 matches.
In official tournaments including the AFF Cup and World Cup qualifiers over the past 20 years, the two teams have met a total of 12 times, with the Vietnamese team winning only 1 match, losing 6 matches and drawing 5 matches.

In addition to the scheduled friendly match with Thailand, the Vietnamese team will participate in a friendly tournament with two teams outside Southeast Asia, Lebanon and India. This tournament is scheduled to take place in Vietnam. Accordingly, the Vietnamese team will face India on October 9. Then, on October 15, we will face Lebanon. In between the two matches, the visiting teams India and Lebanon will meet on October 12.
This is the FIFA Days period (the days when FIFA allows national teams to gather players from clubs on international duty), so it is easier to gather the Vietnamese team and find international players to compete with.

Currently, Lebanon is ranked 117th in FIFA, while India is ranked 124th in FIFA. Therefore, the match between these three teams is considered quite equal.
The time when the Vietnamese team plays friendly matches with India and Lebanon also coincides with the time when coach Kim Sang-sik's team prepares for the AFF Cup 2024 (from November 23 to December 21). Therefore, these are very important matches for us before entering the Southeast Asian Football Championship.
At the 2024 AFF Cup, Coach Kim Sang-sik's team is in the same group with Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos. The goal of the Vietnamese team is to reach the final of this year's Southeast Asian Football Championship./.
