US intelligence does not rule out new plots to assassinate former President Donald Trump in the coming weeks, Politico wrote, citing two senior US officials familiar with the intelligence.

According to the publication, the US intelligence community has received increasing evidence that Iran is allegedly “actively plotting to assassinate Trump, possibly before the November election.” At the same time, Tehran has previously rejected all such allegations, calling them baseless and malicious.

"(US) officials said intelligence has intensified in recent months and officials have become more confident about Tehran's intentions. They also said more attempts on Trump's life could come in the coming weeks," the publication said.

Iran has reportedly been considering a plan for years to “revenge” Trump for the 2020 killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, the article noted.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said Iran was determined to hold former President Trump accountable for his role in the assassination of General Soleimani, but denied all allegations that Tehran was involved in the recent assassination of Mr. Trump.

In another related development, Mr. Richard Black, former Senator of Virginia, commented that if Mr. Donald Trump could not survive an assassination attempt, the prospect of resolving the conflict in Ukraine would likely be destroyed.

Mr. Black stated: "Mr. Donald Trump is determined to quickly end the war in Ukraine. That opportunity was almost blown away by the assassination plot. Hopefully this is just an isolated incident, but Mr. Trump must be carefully protected for world peace." According to this expert's assessment, "During the election campaign, the Washington government seemed to provide inadequate security guarantees to the opponents of incumbent President Biden."
According to Black, Republican Representative Mike Waltz of Florida said that “requests made by the Trump campaign regarding additional security were denied,” although the Biden administration “strongly denied” this information.
Earlier, a senior Republican official attending the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, said Trump would be willing to talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin to resolve the conflict in Ukraine without any mediators.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russia remains ready to participate in any dialogue on the Ukraine issue, including the participation of mediators, but only if its goals are achieved./.
