Coach Hua Hien Vinh: U19 Vietnam determined to reach the semi-finals
On the evening of July 18, the Vietnam U19 team had a regrettable 1-1 draw against Myanmar U19, in the opening match of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament.
Sharing after the match, coach Hua Hien Vinh said: "We are determined to win the first match to advance, we have faith that we will play well to hope to reach the semi-finals. The team's goal is to try to win 3 points, however, U19 Vietnam had an unfavorable result in the first match. However, there is still a chance, U19 Vietnam has 2 more matches against U19 Laos and U19 Australia. Tomorrow we will talk to the players, find a plan for the next two matches".
Evaluating the match, the captain of U19 Vietnam said: "The players entered the match with some tense positions, not playing well, so about 10 minutes into the second half, I had to make adjustments. After that, we played better, had more attacks, and more scoring opportunities. I hope the players make good use of the 25-meter area in front of the goal and boldly shoot. Especially Quang Dung scored a goal from a long shot today."
Sharing about the situation at the end of the match, when the referee did not recognize the goal of U19 Vietnam due to an offside, Mr. Vinh said: "If the referee had not caught the offside, my students would have had a very good long-range shot. The referee made some mistakes, but after the match, I think that is also normal in football. Hopefully the referees will control the following matches better."

Leaving his mark with a beautiful goal from a long shot outside the penalty area against U19 Myanmar, midfielder Hoang Quang Dung was selected by AFF as the best player of the match. Speaking after the match, Quang Dung expressed regret that U19 Vietnam did not win all 3 points in the opening match.
