Regardless of the difficulties of weather and terrain, the construction team of soldiers at Tam Quang Border Post (Tuong Duong) is always ready to help people and villages build houses and auxiliary works. This is voluntary work, stemming from the feelings and responsibilities of the green-uniformed soldiers who always consider "the border as their homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups as their blood brothers".

Houses of Charitylove
Visiting the "happy house" being built by the "Soldier Uniform Builders Team" of Tam Quang Border Guard Station for Vieng Van Thanh, a third grade student in Tung Huong village, we saw an atmosphere of urgent work despite the hot summer sun in the highlands.

Sweat streaked his face, tanned by the sun and wind. Professional Army Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen The Nam - Head of the construction team, originally from Ha Tinh, holding bricks in one hand and a spade in the other, was building quickly and happily, saying: The location of the house is on a steep slope, making the transportation of materials quite difficult, and had to be divided into many stages.

However, everyone in the construction team determined that helping people is the responsibility and "command from the heart" of the Border Guard soldiers, so they were determined to "overcome the sun and rain" to soon complete the project.
Ms. Lo Thi Loi - Vieng Van Thanh's grandmother in Tung Huong village expressed her gratitude to Tam Quang Border Guard Station, especially the "team of soldiers' uniform builders" who helped support the family in building a house. Photo: QA

Vieng Van Thanh is an orphan living with his grandmother Lo Thi Loi (71 years old) in a makeshift house made of bamboo. Through the March Border Month 2024 program, the Central Youth Union has called for support for him with a "happy home" worth 80 million VND. Tam Quang Border Guard Station has sent a construction team of the Station to contribute to the construction so that Thanh's dream of a new house will soon become a reality. It is expected that in less than 2 months, the house will be completed and handed over to Thanh and his grandmother.

Before Thanh, the "Soldier Uniform Builders Team" of Tam Quang Border Guard Station also supported working days to build a charity house for Phan Tu Tuong - an orphan in Son Ha village from the funds raised by his homeroom teacher and mobilized from benefactors.
According to the leaders of Tam Quang commune, in this border area, there are many families that have received support from the "Soldier Uniform Builders Group" to build houses. The most prominent is the sturdy house painted with blue borders of Ms. Vi Thi The (80 years old) in Tung Huong village.

Mrs. The is a poor and single family. Her husband and children have both passed away, leaving her with only two grandchildren. Previously, the three of them lived in a small house made of wooden planks and a dilapidated corrugated iron roof.
Sharing the difficulties with the people, Tam Quang Border Guard Station called for 70 million VND and mobilized officers and soldiers to build a solid house including a kitchen to help Ms. The have a stable place to live.

Mrs. The emotionally shared: "With the help of the Tam Quang Border Guard's construction team to build a house to avoid the rain and sun, my grandmother and I were very happy. Now, my two grandchildren have gone to work far away, I live alone but often receive encouragement and visits from the officers and soldiers of the Station, which makes me feel comforted and less lonely."
Similarly, the 3-room tiled wooden house where the family of Mr. Vi Van Thuy, born in 1975, in Tung Huong village is currently living was completed with support from the construction team of Tam Quang Border Guard Station.

Mr. Thuy is a former Border Guard soldier, in difficult circumstances, currently living alone because his wife and children are working far away. His whole family has saved up to build a house but has only completed the roofing, not the surrounding wall because of lack of funds. Sympathizing with his situation, Tam Quang Border Guard Station sent a team of construction workers to directly support the family with labor to complete the remaining stages.
"Without the support of the construction team of Tam Quang Border Guard Station, I don't know when my family would have been able to complete the house to live in," Mr. Thuy said gratefully.

Talking to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen The Nam - Head of the construction team while he was cleaning his "professional" tools after a long day of work, he said: As soon as the Station decided to establish a "military uniform construction team" in 2020, many officers and soldiers volunteered to participate.
The average number of staff in the team is about 8-10 officers and soldiers, all of whom are skilled, talented in construction, and dedicated to the people of all ethnic groups.
The purpose of establishing the construction team is to help people and villages build houses and civil works. Each person guides the other, the experienced person guides the beginner, gradually everyone becomes proficient. The youngest person in the construction team is Captain Phan Van Kien, born in 1982, from Thanh Chuong.

To facilitate the construction team's work, Tam Quang Border Guard Station has paid attention and allocated funds to purchase machinery and tools such as trowels, scaffolding; concrete mixers, laser levelers, etc. so that the team can operate most effectively.
Projects for the people
Visiting Tung Huong village, Tam Quang commune, we no longer saw the scene of people struggling to carry water for kilometers. That is thanks to the military-civilian water tank built by Tam Quang Border Guard Station with a capacity of about 30 cubic meters of water, worth 50 million VND.

This is a project of special significance to the people, because due to the terrain, the people of Tung Huong village face many difficulties in domestic water sources, especially during the dry season.
Understanding that difficulty, Tam Quang Border Guard Station spent money to buy materials such as cement and steel; at the same time, mobilized the efforts of the "military construction team" to coordinate with the people to level the ground, exploit gravel and rocks from streams, transport them up the hill to build a "military-civilian water tank" to serve the daily needs of the whole village.

Tam Quang Border Guard Station, especially the construction team, has supported villages and people to build many civil works.
Chief of Tung Huong village La Van Hoanh
According to the sharing of the Head of Tung Huong village, La Van Hoanh: The village has 243 households, 1,106 people, the whole village has 205 laborers working far away, most of them are elderly, women and children, so whenever there is work to be done, the village management board encounters many difficulties in mobilizing human resources. Fortunately, thanks to Tam Quang Border Guard Station, especially the construction team, they have supported the village, hamlet and people to build and live in many civil works serving production and life.
