During the meaningful month of July, the Party committee, government, and people of all walks of life in Con Cuong district organized many meaningful activities to express gratitude to wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and those who have contributed to the revolution. All of these activities highlight the national spirit of "Remembering the source when drinking water, remembering the planter when eating fruit."

Roofs of Gratitude

Having a spacious and warm house in Bac Son village, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong district), Mr. Lo Canh Toan (born in 1948) and his wife can now rest easy when the rainy and stormy season arrives. This house is truly special because it was built through the joint efforts of the local Party committee, government, and people as a tribute to him – a son of Con Cuong who contributed to the revolution.

According to Ms. Ngan Thi Ha, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Mon Son commune, Mr. Lo Canh Toan is in a very difficult situation. Both he and his wife suffer from frequent illnesses, and their youngest son has been working far away and they have lost contact for many years. Their two older children, although married, have their own hardships and cannot offer much support to their parents. Therefore, their house is dilapidated, but they lack the means to rebuild it.

Understanding their difficulties, in early 2023, Con Cuong district provided Mr. Toan's family with 80 million VND from the district and provincial "For the Poor" fund to rebuild their house. Simultaneously, they mobilized local residents to contribute their labor to complete the house as quickly as possible. Thanks to this, the construction was completed in a short time and handed over to the family in its entirety.

His "First Class Medal of Resistance against the American War for National Salvation" is proudly displayed in his home by the villagers as a profound expression of gratitude for the sacrifices he made for the revolution and for the independence and freedom of the nation.

Leaving Mon Son, we arrived in Chau Khe commune – a locality with many outstanding achievements in caring for families of policy beneficiaries and those who have contributed to the revolution. Guided by Mr. Lo Van Mui, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Khe commune, we witnessed firsthand four warm houses that Con Cuong district and its partner units have jointly implemented to support war invalids and those who have contributed to the revolution in Khe Bu and Bung Xat villages of the commune.
