Since the beginning of July, shops, bookstores, and agents selling textbooks and school supplies in the province have been quite busy and bustling, especially on weekends. With the proactive mentality of buying the full set, and at the same time, "dividing" the expenses, not all at once in the new school year, most parents choose to buy textbooks earlier than previous years.
“At the beginning of the summer vacation, the homeroom teacher sends a list of books that each grade needs to buy. Based on that, you just need to take it to the bookstore and they will prepare it for you. If you buy early, you will have enough books, have time to carefully wrap the covers, and let your children refer to the program before it starts,” said Nguyen Thi Minh Ngan, a parent.

To help parents easily find textbooks and supplies for their children, the bookstore has fully displayed new and eye-catching designs right in the main area of the bookstore. All types of books are fully listed with prices, arranged by area, and clearly advised for the convenience of parents and students when shopping.
Ms. Pham Thi Huyen - an employee at a bookstore on Le Hong Phong Street said: "Every year, the bookstore is crowded only in mid-August. This year, parents buy textbooks and school supplies earlier. Since mid-June, the number of people coming to buy has increased sharply; the bookstore has had to mobilize staff to work overtime to serve customers."

According to the sales staff here, the prices of books and school supplies have not fluctuated much this year, some items are even discounted by 10-15%. Up to now, the purchasing power of these items has increased by about 70% compared to the same period last year. Most of the items are Vietnamese, with domestic manufacturers increasingly investing in design and models.
Specifically, the prices of notebooks and test papers of brands such as Campus, Hong Ha, Hai Tien... range from 9,000 - 12,000 VND/book; pencils and ballpoint pens of brands Thien Long, KLong... cost from 3,000 - 12,000 VND/piece; highlighters and erasers cost from 8,000 - 25,000 VND/piece...

As for textbooks and reference books, bookstores offer discounts of 10-21% compared to the cover price for parents. Accordingly, on average, each set of primary school textbooks currently ranges from 470,000 VND to 560,000 VND/set; middle school and high school textbooks range from over 400,000 VND to 500,000 VND/set.
In addition, bookstores and stationery stores also launched many consumer stimulus programs on this occasion: price discounts, price reductions, free school supplies, free book covers... for students and parents.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - owner of a bookstore, stationery store in Ro market, Vo Liet commune (Thanh Chuong) said: "The economic difficulties have also affected the purchase of textbooks and school supplies for children. In previous years, parents would wait until the end of August to buy all textbooks, reference books, school bags, and school supplies for their children at once. Now, due to limited income, the purchase of books and school supplies is more spread out, divided into many times and choosing affordable brands with popular prices. To stimulate consumption, from June 1 to August 31, the bookstore is offering a 5% discount on school bags and textbooks."

Currently, the market for textbooks and reference books is very diverse and rich. To avoid buying pirated books and poor quality learning materials, parents and students should buy books and learning materials at reputable addresses. Consider choosing really necessary books from reputable publishers to ensure good service for learning and avoid waste.
