On the morning of August 2nd, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Provincial Journalists Association jointly organized the August 2024 Press Briefing Conference.
In July 2024, prominent issues and events in the fields of current affairs, politics, economics, society, national defense, security, and culture were fully and promptly reported and publicized by the press. In particular, the key contents of the July 2024 regular meetings of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the leadership's direction and management activities, and the 21st session of the 18th Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026, were highlighted by the press.
Over the past month, central and local media outlets have also extensively covered the State Funeral of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In addition, the press has also published many articles about the activities commemorating the 77th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), demonstrating the fine tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source".
In the socio-economic field, many articles have assessed the economic picture of Nghe An over the past seven months. In addition, several issues such as the results of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam; the risk of forest fires due to prolonged heatwaves; drowning incidents; water shortages while clean water projects are not functioning effectively; and obstacles in land clearance, etc., have also been reported and reflected upon by the press.
At the conference, representatives from several media outlets reported on the situation in Vinh City, highlighting instances of violations such as false advertising, psychological manipulation, customer deception, and failure to publicly display service prices; and the lack of clean water in some localities. Therefore, they requested that relevant authorities promptly implement solutions to thoroughly address these issues.
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh – Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department – acknowledged the opinions reflected by representatives of the press agencies at the press briefing.
Regarding future propaganda orientation, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department requests that media agencies continue to promote information on Party building and the construction of the political system in 2024; strengthen information and propaganda to highlight the results and achievements attained in all fields during the three years of implementing the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, in conjunction with the five key programs and 21 key projects.
The Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department also requested that media agencies actively inform and publicize about disaster prevention and control, administrative reform, the results of foreign affairs information work, and the protection of maritime sovereignty, while highlighting the positive and clear results in attracting investment and socio-cultural activities in Nghe An province.
In addition, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department also requested media agencies to extensively publicize major events and holidays in the month. Specifically: the 60th anniversary of the Gulf of Tonkin incident and the victory of the Vietnam People's Navy (August 5, 1964 – August 5, 2024); Vinh's first victory day (August 5); the 20th anniversary of the Day for Victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam (August 10, 2004 – August 10, 2024); the 113th anniversary of the birth of General Vo Nguyen Giap (August 25, 1911 – August 25, 2024); the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2024) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2024). Commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security and the National Day for Protecting National Security (August 19); commemorating the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the armed forces of Nghe An province (August 21, 1945 – August 21, 2024)…
