Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade said rubber exports will face difficulties due to reduced demand in China, Vietnam's main import market.
Rubber demand in China is falling, hit by a drop in auto sales, with demand forecast to drop to just 7.35 million tonnes in 2024.
Data from China Customs showed a sharp drop in natural and synthetic rubber imports in May, reaching just 485,000 tonnes.
China's total rubber imports from January to May 2024 decreased by 16.6%, compared to the same period last year.
However, Vietnam still witnessed growth in rubber exports to major markets such as India, South Korea, Türkiye, and Taiwan, with impressive growth in the first months of the year.
