Regulations on the use of land with coastal water surfaces.

Article 189The 2024 Land Law stipulates the following regarding land use.all have coastal watersas follows:

1. Land with coastal water surfaces is allocated or leased by the State to economic organizations, individuals, people of Vietnamese origin residing abroad, and economic organizations with foreign investment capital for purposes as prescribed by this Law.

2. The use of land with coastal water surfaces is governed by the following regulations:

a) In accordance with the land use plan and scheme approved by the competent authority;

b) Protecting the land and increasing coastal sedimentation;

c) Protecting ecosystems, the environment, and landscapes;

d) Not obstructing the protection of national security and maritime traffic;

d) Protect the water quality in coastal areas; prevent salinization of groundwater aquifers.

3. The allocation and leasing of land with coastal water surface for agricultural and non-agricultural purposes, excluding land reclamation activities, must comply with the land use regulations as stipulated in this Law, the Vietnamese Law on the Sea, the Law on Marine and Island Resources and Environment, and other relevant laws.
