According to TASS news agency, US President Joe Biden explained his decision not to run for re-election to the highest position due to his desire to prevent Republican candidate Donald Trump from winning the election.

“While it is an honor to be president, I feel I have an obligation to do the most important thing for the country, which is we have to defeat Trump,” he said in an interview with CBS.

This interview will be broadcast in full on CBS on August 11.

“When I first ran, I saw myself as the next president. I couldn’t even tell you how old I was, it’s hard to say,” said President Biden, 81.

The US presidential campaign is in its dramatic final stages. Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, continues to receive positive signals, as her support rate tends to increase in surveys.

According to a survey released on August 8 by Ipos, Ms. Harri is leading by 5 points compared to Republican candidate Donald Trump, with support rates of 42% and 37% respectively.

The survey was conducted with more than 2,000 American voters between August 2 and August 7. In previous surveys, Ms. Harris led Mr. Trump by 3-4 points.

Moreover, the survey shows that Ms. Harris is leading Mr. Trump in 7 states that had fierce competition between candidates in the 2020 election, including: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
