August 14, 1943:Death of writer and journalist Nguyen An Ninh. He was born in 1900, in Quan Tre, Hoc Mon district, Gia Dinh province (Ho Chi Minh City). As a child, he studied in Saigon, then studied abroad in France and graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree at the age of 21. He published the newspaper "Cai Chuong Re" as an anti-French colonialist mouthpiece. In addition to his speeches and articles in both Vietnamese and French, which were famous and caused a great stir among progressives, he also wrote the books: "Religion", "Trung Nu Vuong", "Dan Uoc".
