August 21, 1965 to August 24, 1965:More than 2,000 young students in Hue gathered in the middle of the city to protest the military draft, and used loudspeakers to read a manifesto demanding the "overthrow of the Thieu Ky military government".

August 21, 1967:American planes bombed Hanoi. The 92nd Chemical Corps released smoke to cover the Yen Phu power plant, preventing the enemy from directly attacking the plant. This was the first battle in which the enemy used remote-controlled bombs, but the target (Yen Phu power plant) was still safely protected. This was also the first time that the chemical troops used smoke to blind the enemy to protect an important production facility in the capital, in coordination with the anti-aircraft artillery troops.
