Vinh City residents want trees to be quickly pruned before the storm season.
Currently in Vinh City, there are many old trees with lush branches and leaves, which are at risk of falling during the rainy and stormy season, making people feel insecure.
These days, Ms. Phan Nga’s family on Nguyen Vinh Loc Street, Ben Thuy Ward, Vinh City is worried because right in front of their house gate, there is a tree that has been dead for about a month. The tree trunk is quite large, about 15 meters high, more than 10 years old, the base is weak, and is in danger of falling at any time.

Ms. Nga said: This tree is dead but we do not know how to handle it because the tree is managed by the city, people do not dare to cut it down. During storms, the tree can break and fall, posing a potential danger to passersby, not to mention the surrounding area of the tree has electric wires, telecommunications networks, high risk of fire.
"Vinh City authorities need to quickly trim dense trees, deal with dead trees, and fence off weak trees that are at risk of falling so that people can rest assured because the storm season is approaching..." Ms. Nga emphasized.
In fact, in Vinh City, there are many trees on roads such as Truong Thi, Le Mao, Tran Phu, Phong Dinh Cang, An Duong Vuong... that need to be pruned and cleared to ensure safety.
According to Vinh City Green Parks Joint Stock Company - the unit in charge of caring for and pruning trees in the area, the city's plan for 2024 is to restore 2,600 trees, clear the canopy of 1,080 trees, and liquidate 107 trees on 75 streets and parks. Up to now, 70% of the progress has been met.
"Currently, the unit is mobilizing maximum human resources and vehicles including cranes and leaf-sweeping dump trucks to focus on handling dense trees that are at risk of falling on the streets, striving to complete the work in August 2024," said a representative of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company.

In fact, during the storm season in previous years, many trees in Vinh City were broken and fell, affecting traffic and damaging people's vehicles. Notably, in July 2022, a tree in Nguyen Tat Thanh Park, Truong Thi Ward was uprooted, crushing an old man, killing him. Therefore, tree pruning is an urgent task that needs to be carried out before big storms.
