Rice export price today

Vietnam's current rice export prices are unchanged from yesterday. 100% broken rice is priced at $440 per ton. Standard rice with 5% broken rice is priced at $578 per ton. Rice with 25% broken rice is sold at $544 per ton.

Vietnam’s rice export prices rose to their highest level in nearly three months, reaching $578 per tonne for 5% broken rice on August 22, up $8 from the previous week. The increase was due to supply constraints, largely the result of the end of the summer-autumn harvest and unfavorable weather.

An imbalance between supply and demand has occurred due to high rice prices, leading to reduced demand.

The rice price increase is not only happening in Vietnam but also in other major rice producing countries in Asia, including India, where rice prices have increased by $5-9 per ton.

Exporters are considering adjusting prices in preparation for the new crop season, hoping to raise support prices and secure profits.

In Thailand, the price of 5% broken rice also increased slightly, to 570 USD/ton, mainly due to the impact of exchange rates, while consumption demand remained stable.

Despite the recommendation, farmers in Soc Trang sowed autumn-winter rice early, with prices increasing by VND1,000-1,200/kg compared to last year, accepting the associated risks.
