A total of 39 affected pigs, including 35 pigs and four sows, were culled due to the disease. Symptoms include high fever, subcutaneous hemorrhage, lethargy and loss of appetite.

The main cause of outbreaks is failure to comply with biosecurity and disease prevention procedures in livestock farming.

Symptoms usually appear 5 to 10 days after selling pigs for slaughter and entering feed without proper cleaning and disinfection.

African swine fever is still occurring in 249 communes in 86 districts of 29 provinces and cities across Vietnam. To cope with the situation, authorities are stepping up communication and guidance for farmers on disease prevention and surveillance measures and controlling the slaughter and transportation of animals.
