The Tay Son peasant uprising in the second half of the 18th century is associated with the career of the three Tay Son brothers: Nguyen Nhac, Nguyen Hue and Nguyen Lu, represented by Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue - who turned the Tay Son movement from a peasant uprising into a movement to fight for national liberation.

From a talented general who fought and won every battle, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue became a great national hero, a military genius, overthrowing the feudal forces of Le, Trinh, Nguyen, erasing the Gianh River border that had divided the country for over 200 years, wiping out 50,000 Siamese troops with the Rach Gam - Xoai Mut victory in 1785 and the peak was the historic Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory in the year of Ky Dau 1789, defeating 290,000 invading Manchu troops, firmly protecting national independence.

Emperor Quang Trung was not only a military genius but also an outstanding politician with many policies of recruiting talented people, treating them well, winning people's hearts, leading the country in economic, cultural, social aspects and friendly relations with neighboring countries, integrating into the common progress of humanity.

Emperor Quang Trung was born in the year of Quy Dau (1753) in Kien Thanh hamlet, Tuy Vien prefecture, Quy Nhon district, now Phu Phong town, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province; his ancestors were from the Ho family, from Hung Nguyen, Nghe An, after moving to Binh Dinh, they changed their family name to Nguyen.

After eliminating internal and external enemies, the Tay Son Dynasty under the reign of Emperor Quang Trung took care of the country's revival and decided to move the capital to Nghe An because "only establishing the capital in Nghe An would be a way to balance and control the South and the North and would make it convenient for people from all over to come and file lawsuits".

On October 1, 1788, 236 years ago, Emperor Quang Trung issued an edict to build the capital Phoenix in Yen Truong commune, Chan Loc district, at the foot of Dung Quyet mountain, now Trung Do ward, Vinh city; the land was considered to have "a spacious shape, bright weather, truly a beautiful place to build the capital".
While the country was developing, peaceful and prosperous, on September 16, 1792 (July 29, Nham Ty year), Emperor Quang Trung passed away at the age of 39, the Tay Son dynasty lasted a short time before collapsing.

With the moral of “When drinking water, remember its source”, every year, the death anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung is solemnly held by Vinh city according to traditional rituals on the 29th day of the 7th lunar month at the Temple of the Cloth Hero on Dung Quyet mountain, a famous mountain of Vinh city associated with the process of building Phuong Hoang Trung Do.

In a sacred and respectful atmosphere, with deep gratitude, the leaders of the province, departments, agencies and Vinh city, the Ho family and the people offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express their deep gratitude for the great contributions and great career of the hero Quang Trung; hoping that the spirit of the Emperor will bless the country with peace and prosperity, and that all people will unite to protect and develop the country; and that Nghe An province and Vinh city will develop more and more prosperously and civilizedly.
