Understanding the teaching, "The work of innovation and construction is the responsibility of the people - The cause of resistance and national construction is the work of the people," the Nghe An Trade Union organization has awakened the sense of responsibility of each worker and laborer towards their homeland and country through creative and appropriate methods.
Ignite class pride
Unlike other political organizations, the unique nature of shift work, assembly line schedules, and stressful working hours of workers and direct laborers requires trade unions to be truly creative and dedicated in their propaganda and activity development.
On the other hand, many businesses, especially FDI enterprises, do not have Party branches. Therefore, disseminating the Party's guidelines and resolutions, state policies and laws, and promoting patriotism and love for the homeland, requires a very significant role and responsibility from trade union organizations.
In recent times, recognizing the importance of propaganda, education, and mobilization in building and operating trade union organizations, the propaganda and education work of the Nghe An Provincial Trade Union has undergone many innovations, models, and creative approaches that are in line with the orientation of propaganda and education work in the new era, adapting to modern information and communication trends and the needs of union members and workers, thereby building the image and trust of union members and workers in the trade union organization.

In late August, before the September 2nd holiday, images of workers in Nghe An province "painting" their factories red with the national flag were widely shared on forums and social media. This activity was initiated by the trade union, with the aim of arousing patriotism and national pride among workers.
At Minh Anh – Kim Lien Garment Joint Stock Company, before August 31st, the red flag with a yellow star and the hammer and sickle flag were hung alternately in all walkways, and small red flags with yellow stars were attached or pasted on all machinery. Thousands of workers wore shirts with the red flag and yellow star and performed the flag-raising ceremony right in the factory. Witnessing this scene, Ms. Bui Thi Minh – a worker in sewing team 1, factory 1 – shared: “Responding to the encouragement and mobilization of the company's trade union, we bought red flag and yellow star shirts in advance for this event. I have never worked in such a special atmosphere before; I am extremely moved and proud of the Vietnamese nation. Being a ‘flag’ in that ‘forest of flags’ makes me even more motivated to contribute to creating value for the company and contributing to building my homeland.”
Also in August, workers in Nghe An had another major event: the "Singing Festival for Civil Servants, Public Employees, and Workers." With the requirement that participants be workers and direct laborers, the festival organizers created a professional competition with many memorable experiences. There, union members, workers, and laborers truly shone, raising their voices to praise the country, President Ho Chi Minh, the Trade Union, the working class… and returning to work with pride as a part of the Nghe An workforce.
Earlier, under the direction of the Nghe An Provincial Trade Union, tens of thousands of workers throughout the province also simultaneously performed the weekly flag-raising ceremony, creating incredibly impressive moments at offices and factories. Sports events, the Workers' Day program, the photo contest "The Beauty of Workers in Labor and Production"... also carried similar meanings and messages.
At the district, city, town, and sectoral trade unions, the mark of creativity is clearly demonstrated in a series of impactful activities such as: "Dance of the New Rhythm of Life," "Elegant Youth," the Workers' Sports Tournament of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union; the Forum "Enterprises for Workers - Workers for Enterprises," the "Excellent Grassroots Trade Union Cadre" competition of the Vinh City Trade Union; the "Honoring the Beauty of Female Workers" contest, and the "Ringing the Golden Bell" competition of the Nghia Dan District Labor Federation... These activities are diverse in both form and content, flexibly applying technology to reach all audiences.
Participating in the 2024 Southeast Economic Zone and Nghe An Industrial Parks Sports Tournament, jointly organized by the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union, Mr. Le Khanh Minh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Luxshare ICT Nghe An Co., Ltd. shared: “This is an opportunity for workers from many businesses to connect with each other, to express themselves, and to be honored. It's not through written documents or directives; the political acumen, class strength, patriotism, and national pride of workers are nurtured, awakened, and promoted through practical and concrete activities like this.”
"Patriotism means competing with others."
The class strength, patriotism, and national pride of workers and laborers are most clearly demonstrated in emulation movements and creative labor. This is also the spirit that will enable the Nghe An Trade Union to overcome difficulties in the coming period.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union, affirmed: "Launching emulation movements is about unleashing the inherent strength of union members and workers. Therefore, emulation movements must be focused, targeted, and not merely 형식적인 (formalistic). At the same time, they must be practical and linked to the political functions and tasks of the agency or unit."
Patriotic emulation movements, launched by trade unions in all fields, have been actively participated in and supported by a large number of union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers, achieving many encouraging results. The "Excellent Worker, Creative Worker" emulation movement continues to promote its role, affirming its core and overarching value in the emulation movements of trade unions. Specialized emulation movements such as "Excellent in National Affairs - Competent in Family Affairs," "Green, Clean, Beautiful, Ensuring Occupational Safety and Health," and "Culture - Sports" have been widely implemented.
In the "75,000 Initiatives for Overcoming Difficulties and Development" program, Nghe An led the country in the number of registered and submitted initiatives (23,454 initiatives). In the "1 Million Initiatives - Efforts to Overcome Difficulties, Creativity, and Determination to Win Against the Covid-19 Pandemic" program, Nghe An also ranked among the top with thousands of initiatives generating hundreds of billions of dong in benefits. In the last four years, Nghe An has had 127 individuals awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; in 2022, four individuals received the Nguyen Duc Canh Award from the General Confederation; and from 2022 to 2024, 30 workers with outstanding achievements in production were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee each year.
From emulation movements, many new exemplary individuals and dynamic, creative, effective, and sustainable approaches have emerged. Among the 95 outstanding workers and laborers honored by the Provincial Labor Union in 2024, 59 individuals achieved significant success in the creative labor emulation movement, with many valuable initiatives and experiences that brought tens of billions of dong in benefits to their units and businesses. These include Mr. Gian Viet Truyen (Asia Corporation), Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Binh (Luxshare ICT Company), Ms. Vo Thi Trang (Thai Thuong Hoang Hospital), Mr. Vu Xuan Hieu (Hoa Sen Steel Company Limited), Mr. Hoa Van Tan (Minh Anh Kim Lien Garment Company), etc.
In the Nghe An trade union system, the emulation movement "Innovation, Creativity, and Efficiency in the Activities of Trade Union Organizations" has been launched, creating practical motivation to promote the intellect, creativity, and dedication of trade union officials. From this, many exemplary individuals who actively participate in grassroots trade union activities, are passionate about their profession, responsible for their assigned work, and constantly innovate in their activities have been honored.
Globalization and international integration, along with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, present both opportunities and challenges for our country in general and Nghe An in particular, offering many advantages but also numerous difficulties. Along with the province's significant efforts in attracting investment, projects continue to expand their operations, and many key projects are beginning to become operational, attracting a large workforce and leading to increasingly complex labor relations. In enterprises, especially newly established ones, the representation of workers by grassroots trade unions is not yet high, and union officials often hold multiple positions, resulting in limited time and influence for union officials. Building on what has already been achieved, the Nghe An Trade Union will have to make even greater efforts to strengthen its role in representing, caring for, and protecting workers, while simultaneously affirming its position as an important political organization within the political system.
The guiding power of Resolution 02
Sharing about the achievements over the past period, Mr. Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, said: "Besides applying the timeless lessons of mass mobilization from President Ho Chi Minh, the above results also represent a strong transformation since the implementation of Resolution 02 of the Politburo on "Renewing the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation". This is a solid political foundation for renewing the organization and operation of trade unions, meeting the requirements of the new situation. In the spirit of Resolution 02, the trade unions at all levels in Nghe An have been inspired to overcome all difficulties, comprehensively implement with focus and priorities, strongly oriented towards the grassroots, expanding and investing more in the non-state enterprise sector."
Accordingly, immediately after Resolution 02 was issued, the Nghe An Provincial Trade Union was the first unit in the country to organize the online competition "Nghe An Provincial Trade Union Officials Learn About Resolution 02-NQ/TW," attracting nearly 50,000 participants including officials, union members, workers, and laborers. Resolution 02 has been thoroughly disseminated to every grassroots level and every trade union official.
According to Mr. Kha Van Tam, the suggestions in the Resolution can be flexibly applied to suit all practical situations, creating a foundation for building an organization that represents and cares for workers. This includes strengthening the Party's leadership, leveraging the support of Party committees and government authorities, striving to develop union membership, innovating activities, improving the capacity of trade union officials and the awareness of workers, and coordinating with various departments, agencies, and other socio-political organizations. When implementing activities, the trade union system thoroughly, seriously, systematically, and promptly disseminated information from all levels of government and from the Nghe An Trade Union, thus ensuring the effectiveness of the advisory, guidance, and dissemination of the Resolution. After a series of training programs to improve professional skills, the trade union officials have been comprehensively "upgraded." Resolution 02 has "guided" trade unions at all levels to change their thinking, innovate their activities, and create breakthroughs in the new situation.
“The Nghe An Trade Union is very fortunate that the implementation of the Resolution has received regular attention and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee and Party committees at all levels. At the same time, we cannot fail to mention the coordination and support of agencies, departments, and organizations, which have helped to make the implementation of activities smoother, larger-scale, more widespread, and more effective,” Mr. Kha Van Tam further shared.
Building upon the lessons on mass mobilization taught by President Ho Chi Minh and adhering closely to the innovative spirit of Resolution 02, the Nghe An Trade Union has maximized the strength and potential of its members and workers, making significant contributions to socio-economic and scientific-technical achievements, and affirming the role and position of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation.
