National Assembly Chairman commemorates at Uncle Ho Monument and Tomb of Unknown Soldiers in Russia

In Moscow, Russia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument and the Unknown Soldier Monument at the Kremlin wall in Red Square.

On the afternoon of September 8 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, beginning an official visit to the Russian Federation and co-chairing the third meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

Welcoming National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his delegation at the airport were: First Vice Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation II Melnikov; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi; officials of the State Duma of the Russian Federation; officials and staff of the Embassy and a large number of Vietnamese people in the Russian Federation...

Immediately after arriving in Moscow, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his delegation laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation observed a minute of silence to commemorate the beloved President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader of the Party and people of Vietnam, who devoted his entire life to the independence of the Fatherland and the freedom and happiness of the people; at the same time, he was an outstanding soldier of the international communist and workers' movement; Hero of national liberation; World cultural celebrity.

Next, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation laid flowers at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin wall in Red Square.

The National Assembly Chairman and delegates bowed in memory of the Soviet Red Army and Allied soldiers with heroic feats and extraordinary courage who sacrificed their lives in defeating the Nazi army besieging Moscow in 1941, as well as in the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet people, who laid down their lives to bring peace not only to Russia but to all mankind.

In the evening of the same day, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation.

At the meeting, the National Assembly Chairman stated that the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma and the Chairman of the Federation Council to the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam to officially visit the Russian Federation to carry out important tasks is to promote cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, and at the same time demonstrates the special importance of the Russian Federation to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.

Providing information on the country's situation, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government strive to ensure growth, curb inflation, stabilize the macro-economy, and ensure social security. People's material and spiritual lives are constantly improving, national defense and security are guaranteed, and diplomacy is strengthened. Attention is paid to the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity, with no forbidden areas. The National Assembly continues to innovate and improve the quality of activities of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Regarding foreign affairs, the National Assembly Chairman said that recently, Vietnam has upgraded its relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the US, Japan, and Australia. Thus, Vietnam has established strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council; and the Russian Federation is one of seven Comprehensive Strategic Partners of Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman also emphasized that the country's position has been constantly enhanced, as assessed by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: "Our country has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today."

Regarding the activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman happily informed that since the beginning of the 15th term, the National Assembly has passed 43 laws and 137 resolutions, and the National Assembly Standing Committee has passed 4 ordinances and 45 resolutions.

It is the consistent policy of our Party and State to always care for and consider the Vietnamese community abroad as an inseparable part, a resource of the national community and an important factor contributing to strengthening the cooperative and friendly relations between Vietnam and other countries.

The National Assembly Chairman said that recently, our State has issued new policies, as well as amended and supplemented a number of policies to concretize the Party's guidelines on caring for overseas Vietnamese such as the Law on Identity Cards, the Land Law (amended)...

Last April, the National Assembly Standing Committee approved the Government's proposal to amend and supplement a number of articles of Decree No. 08/2019 on the regime for members of Vietnamese agencies abroad. Accordingly, the Government issued Decree No. 51 to have better treatment for members of Vietnamese agencies abroad, closely following the domestic salary reform process.

The National Assembly Chairman also praised the solidarity of the Vietnamese community in Russia, active in many fields such as study, work, labor, production, business and has built a united bloc.

Regarding the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, the National Assembly Chairman expressed his belief that, at the front line of the diplomatic front, in a foreign land, the staff of the Embassy will continue to overcome difficulties and challenges to better fulfill their assigned tasks.
