A family in Quy Chau district lost 8 buffaloes, suspected to have been struck by lightning.
While checking the farm, Mr. Vang Trung Thuy's family in Ba Cong village, Chau Hoan commune, Quy Chau district (Nghe An) discovered a herd of 8 buffaloes suspected to have been struck dead by lightning.
Information from the People's Committee of Chau Hoan commune, Quy Chau district said that on the afternoon of September 11, a lightning strike occurred in the area, suspected to be the cause of the death of 8 buffaloes of local people.
Accordingly, on the same afternoon, Mr. Vang Trung Thuy, a resident of Ba Cong village, went up the mountain to check his farm but did not see the buffalo herd return. Later, he discovered the buffalo herd lying dead in a swamp. Some of them were burned, suspected to have been struck by lightning.
Information from local people said that the lightning strike occurred about 10km away from residential areas, in a mountainous area that is difficult to access, the buffalo herd may have been struck by lightning 1 or 2 days before the family discovered it.
According to Mr. Ly Van Dung, Chairman of Chau Hoan Commune People's Committee, the incident caused damage to Mr. Vang Trung Thuy's family estimated at about 120 million VND./.
