Nghe An Red Cross and volunteer groups share with flood victims in Yen Bai province

To support people in the northern provinces affected by floods after storm No. 3, the Nghe An Red Cross is carrying out many meaningful activities to share with people in flooded areas.

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province to donate and support flood victims in the Northern provinces, the Provincial Red Cross Society launched a campaign for organizations, individuals, agencies, units, localities, enterprises; all levels of the Provincial Red Cross Society mobilized cadres, members, youth, and Red Cross volunteers to support and contribute money, goods, and materials to help flood victims in the North.

Receiving the call for support, along with many other organizations and individuals, Dien Chau Volunteer Club coordinated with the Provincial Red Cross to organize a volunteer trip, transporting necessities and necessary goods to people in flood-affected areas in the Northern provinces.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - Head of Dien Chau Volunteer Club shared that after launching a campaign to support people in the northern provinces affected by floods, the club received a lot of love and sharing from many officials and people.

All goods and necessities to support people in flood-affected areas include: dried fish, cooking oil, fish sauce, instant noodles, canned meat, cakes of all kinds, rice, dry food, filtered water, milk... The total value of the goods is about 200 million VND. In order to depart on time at 8:00 p.m. on September 11, the Provincial Red Cross Society and the Dien Chau Volunteer Club together supported the goods and necessities on the car.

In this relief trip, the Provincial Red Cross will go to Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province to support the people there to overcome difficulties. It is known that due to the impact of storm No. 3, 11 people died due to landslides into houses and 6 others were injured. These are heartbreaking losses, marking the loss of life in the series of consecutive natural disasters that the district has had to endure. In addition, 2,019 households had to be evacuated, 53 houses were completely collapsed, 495 houses had positive slope landslides, directly affecting the lives of people; 1,200 houses were flooded.

Mr. Pham Xuan Thach - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society said that this is the first relief shipment to the people in the flood-hit areas of the Northern provinces of the Society. In the coming days, as a bridge for social and humanitarian activities, the Provincial Red Cross Society will continue to call on and connect organizations, individuals and philanthropists to promptly support and share difficulties with people in the flood-hit areas of the Northern provinces.
