- In what situation did the role of gangster Alex in "Getting Rich with Ghosts" come to you?

Everyone wants to have a role with a lot of room to act, but at the moment, the roles mostly choose me, I am not good at choosing roles. When I accept a role, I always try to do my best. Every year, I take on a few small roles, hoping to catch the eye of a director, who knows, maybe there will be a big role.

- In 2021, you had an impressive role in "The Godfather" but then you were free?

Everyone in the profession knows that I have never gone to an audition. I know this is a necessary process, but when I was a student, I failed so many auditions that I didn't dare to go anymore. I accepted any role that was offered to me. I am not picky about roles except for handsome actors.

- When you first became famous thanks to the game show, you didn't look that bad. You decided that you wouldn't play a handsome character, but at least you had to maintain your appearance a bit. Why did you let your appearance deteriorate like this?

I'm sure everyone knows more or less how I live. People say "one year of destruction is equal to three years of work", I "destroyed" for 4 years, had to deal with so many consequences so it was inevitable that I would lose my beauty and become haggard. If I had the means, I would also want to improve my appearance, no one wants to be ugly. Luckily my acting hasn't deteriorated as much as my beauty.

- People in debt are often very stressed, their minds are not at ease, just living is tiring, how can they act, and act well?

On the contrary, the moment I stand in front of the camera and act is when I feel most comfortable, it's like an instinct.

At home, I have free time so I watch a lot of movies regardless of whether they are good or bad. I watch to learn, to train myself, to imagine how I would act. When I have a role, I process the script and get into character faster. I rarely have the opportunity to go to the cinema, I mainly watch online.

- Looking back at your career, you once had the opportunity to co-star with Ngoc Trinh in "Vu Quy Dai Nao" but the revenue did not reach 100 billion. Another movie you participated in was "Cu Lao Khoc Song" which is mentioned as a symbol of disaster movies. Do you regret it?

Every time I watch a movie I've acted in, I see that I'm bad and have many shortcomings. The movie is out now, I can't make excuses to the audience, I have to try harder for the next movie.

When I read the script, I didn't think it would be a disaster. When I got to the set, there were many other problems that were not as I had originally imagined. If people call it a "disaster", I don't know how to answer. In fact, we did our best, the rest depends on the audience's reception.

Years of debt living like a rat, not even sleeping easy

- How have you been these past years?

I'm not so much of a recluse, looking around everywhere, but I'm enduring invisible pressure. Normal people are sensitive when things are said or done, and I'm an artist, even more vulnerable.

Even if there are people who say wrong things about me on purpose, I accept it because I was wrong first. Men can't avoid it forever.

You know, how can a person in debt sleep well at night? Even sleeping is not easy, my friend!

I think everything will pass. When I joined the film crew, everyone respected and cared for me. If I had any inferiority complex, it was because I felt it.

I don't know if I should call it shameless or mentally stable when I'm doing very well. After all, I've been facing it for 8 years now, not just 1-2 years.

At first, I was like a mouse or a rabbit, always timid, only knowing how to hide in a hole. After a few years, I became callous, starting to realize my position and could not live like a mouse forever, it was terrible. I had an old mother above me, and a 5-year-old daughter below me.

Now, I'm comfortable with how others see me. I may have been wrong then, but that doesn't mean I'll be wrong for life.

- What do mother and child mean to you?

Thanks to my mother, I know how to accept my mistakes and my daughter gives me the motivation to change myself.

I have to pay off all my debts before my child can read and write. I don't have much time left. My child should have had a good life, but now he's only at this level. I'm so sad.

As a father, I am more obedient than before. Now the most I allow myself is to drink beer alone. My child is very obedient, only his father is bad!

- You work hard to pay off your debt? How do you spend your money?

I don’t have much work to do, so why bother? Recently, my brother and I started a business together, importing shoes and selling them live. It’s not a business yet, just an experiment. In the past, if I wasn’t filming, I would film clips and post them online or do whatever people asked me to do.

I live simply, don't spend much, a meal is usually just a loaf of bread. Some days I spend 300-400 thousand, some days I still have a 100 thousand bill intact. Every month I spend about 15-20 million, the heaviest part is my children's school fees.

I have to pay off debt and worry about living expenses, so I definitely borrow more from friends. I still take care of my children, but sometimes I want my children to have a pile of toys like other people's houses but they don't, which makes me a bit sad.

Only 1/10 debt left, want to make up for past mistakes

- What is the debt situation?

I pay my debt regularly every year, slowly because of limited human capacity, but still pay. After the Covid-19 pandemic, my economy was a bit tight. Luckily, compared to the peak, the debt is now only 1/10.

- After going through the darkest period of your life, what did you realize?

I used to go astray, lost my way because I didn’t know my limits, I didn’t know where to stop. I never told you the details because I don’t dare to remember. I had to forget to go to work, to live on. If I keep thinking about my mistakes, one day I will go crazy.

I have never been completely wrong to anyone, except for late payments or missed deadlines. If someone no longer has sympathy for me, I can only accept it.

Until now, I still have some burden. I speak the truth, no longer afraid or avoiding. When I was in trouble, I borrowed money from friends, this is very bad, destroying my reputation and honor. So, now is the time for me to start fixing every little thing.

- How do you teach your children?

The baby is still very young, not yet 5 years old. I mainly teach him good things and reason. Luckily, he is obedient and understanding, very easy to teach.

- For those who have left, are you sad about human ingratitude?

Using the word "leave" is a bit strong. Life is predestined, when it's over then we leave, there's nothing wrong or bad about it. Sometimes looking back, I see that most relationships end well.
