Flood water gradually recedes in Anh Son and Con Cuong districts.

As of the morning of September 22, flood water levels in Anh Son and Con Cuong districts had receded about 30-50cm compared to September 21.

In Anh Son district, according to the report of the District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, the flood water level in rivers, streams, roads and residential areas on the morning of September 22 has gradually receded compared to September 21. Some roads are now passable.

Specifically, on the road in the center of Tam Son commune on the afternoon of September 21, the flood was nearly 1 meter deep, vehicles could not move, the whole commune with more than 500 households was temporarily isolated. However, as of the morning of September 22, the water on this road had receded about 50cm, the locality removed the blockade to allow people and vehicles to circulate.

Similarly, 4 Cao Veu villages in Phuc Son commune have been isolated for more than 2 days due to high water levels over the spillway. This is a frequently flooded area in Anh Son district. By the morning of September 22, the water level over the spillway was about 30cm, and people were able to travel.

However, there are still some isolated areas in Anh Son district. In hamlet 9, Duc Son commune, the flood level is still fluctuating from 70cm to 1m, receding very slowly, causing dozens of households to remain isolated.

Mr. Ha Ngoc Dung - Head of Hamlet 9, Duc Son Commune said: Currently, the water level is still high, isolating about 50 households in the hamlet. The forces have set up checkpoints to prevent people from traveling to ensure safety. Because they were informed about the flood situation in advance, people have also planned to stock up on food, and currently they can still live normally in the isolated area. On the afternoon of September 21, a charity group also came to give gifts to encourage people in the hamlet.

Anh Son district is one of the localities that suffered heavy damage in this flood. As of the morning of September 22, the district had 2 deaths due to floods, the whole district had 40 landslides, more than 100 households were flooded, 3 bridges were damaged, hundreds of hectares of crops were flooded, 500 poultry were swept away...

In Con Cuong district, floodwater levels were still on the decline on the morning of September 22. Currently, the deeply flooded areas on September 21 in Yen Khe and Luc Da communes have gradually receded, and people can now travel. However, some isolated areas remain.

In Lang Khe commune, the overflow bridge over Yen Hoa village is still flooded, cutting off more than 100 households. In addition, rocks continued to fall on the road to Chom Lom village on the evening of September 21. According to local authorities, it is very difficult to handle falling rocks at this time because it does not ensure safety for people. Therefore, the local authorities have put up warning signs, not allowing people to travel, and will wait until the rain ends to come up with a solution.

In addition, the road to Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong district still has high water level and strong currents, all people and vehicles are not allowed to circulate.

Mr. Lo Thanh Huan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan Commune said: In fact, people in the commune still have another road to get to National Highway 7, however, this detour is 30km long, while the main road from National Highway 7 to the commune is only 2km (currently being cut off), so if there is an emergency, people can still leave the locality although it will take more time.

According to a report from Con Cuong district, as of the morning of September 22, heavy rains caused by storm No. 4 had flooded 25 houses, 55 houses in high landslide areas, 4 schools had collapsed fences and landslides; more than 275 hectares of crops were damaged (85 hectares of rice, 190 hectares of sugarcane and cassava); nearly 1,300 poultry and 26 cattle were killed or swept away, many traffic works were damaged and eroded... estimated damage of nearly 9 billion VND.
