According to RIA Novosti on September 29, Iran's permanent delegation called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council following Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms. Given the serious implications for regional and international peace and security, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the Security Council to unequivocally condemn Israel's actions in the strongest possible terms. Furthermore, Iran calls on the Security Council to convene an urgent meeting to consider the Israeli attack and the atrocities committed by Israel in Lebanon and across the region," the Iranian delegation said in a statement.

On the evening of September 22, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the launch of a military operation called "Northern Arrow" against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Israeli Air Force has carried out major attacks on Hezbollah targets in various areas of Lebanon. Several targeted airstrikes have also occurred in the Lebanese capital Beirut, resulting in the deaths of senior Hezbollah commanders and political leaders.

In just two days, the Israeli Air Force claimed to have struck more than 1,600 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the raids left more than 500 people dead and nearly 2,000 injured.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that the Israeli army is destroying infrastructure built by Hezbollah over the past 20 years.

Observers note that Israel has not attacked Hezbollah with such intensity since the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

More than 90,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in southern Lebanon due to escalating conflict with Israel, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Hezbollah responded with rocket attacks, mainly targeting northern Israel, but the scope of rocket attacks has increased significantly in recent days. Dozens of rockets are reported daily in Israeli settlements, with residential buildings being hit. In particular, a rocket launch was recorded in the Tel Aviv area and was shot down by air defense systems.

Tensions have been rising as the Israeli military announced preparations for a ground operation in Lebanon.
