October 5, 1426:Battle of Tot Dong - Chuc Dong, the battle between Lam Son insurgents and Dai Minh troops stationed in Dong Quan (today's capital Hanoi)

October 5, 1847:Prince Hong Nham ascended the throne to succeed his father King Thieu Tri, namely King Tu Duc.

October 5, 1887:The leader of the peasant uprising, Dinh Cong Trang, passed away. Dinh Cong Trang was from Trang Xa village, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province. He led the peasant uprising against the French and was famous for his role in the Ba Dinh resistance base. After nearly 3 years of defending the citadel and fighting the enemy, Dinh Cong Trang fled to Nghe An and was shot dead by the French in Trung Yen village on October 5, 1887.

October 5, 1892: Patriotic scholar Tong Duy Tan was executed by the French. Tong Duy Tan and other patriotic scholars actively responded to King Ham Nghi's Can Vuong movement (1885).
