Land officer helps sister embezzle 32 billion VND from her brother
The police agency has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute a 4-month temporary detention order against Tran Thanh Hung (born 1983), for the crime of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
According to the investigation results, in 2020, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son (a Vietnamese American) sent back to Vietnam to his younger sister, Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoang, over 100 billion VND to buy land. After that, Ms. Hoang transferred the above amount to her younger sister, Nguyen Thi Thanh Hien (also Mr. Son's younger sister) so that Ms. Hien could buy land in Lai Son commune, Kien Hai district for Mr. Son.

After receiving Mr. Son's money transferred by Ms. Hoang, Ms. Hien and Le Phuong Dong (living together as husband and wife) signed a contract to buy all 22 plots of land from households in Lai Son commune, Kien Hai district, with Hien directly registering as the buyer.
After completing the purchase procedures, Hien and Dong asked Tran Thanh Hung (residing in Bai Nha A hamlet, Lai Son commune, Kien Hai district, Kien Giang), a cadastral officer of Lai Son commune, to re-do the documents of the 22 plots of land mentioned above so that Hien could forge the signatures of 9 land sellers, with the aim of increasing the land purchase price many times to appropriate nearly 7 billion VND from Mr. Son.
At the same time, both of them asked Hung to forge 3 land sale contracts and 5 sales contracts to inflate land prices, appropriating over 25 billion VND from Mr. Son. In particular, Dong played the role of providing relevant information for Hung to forge the above contracts.
Thus, Hung and Dong colluded to help Ms. Hien appropriate Mr. Son's assets worth over 32 billion VND.
Regarding this case, previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and detained Hien and Dong for the same crime as above.
