Oil prices today October 8, 2024: World crude oil prices increased sharply. WTI and Brent crude oil spot prices both increased by 4-5% compared to yesterday.

Crude oil price update data at TradingEconomics and Oilprice, the world spot price of WTI vcaf Brent crude oil at 6:28 am on October 8 (Vietnam time) suddenly increased sharply again after a day of slight decrease and sideways movement. On average, the world crude oil price on the morning of October 8 increased by over 3 USD/barrel compared to October 7.
Specifically, the selling price of WTI crude oil was nearly 77.6 USD/barrel, an increase of more than 3.2 USD/barrel compared to October 7, an increase of 4.2%. Compared to the same period last year, the price of WTI crude oil increased by over 12.6%, the peak increase.
Similarly, Brent crude oil price surpassed 81.2 USD/barrel, up more than 3.2 USD/barrel compared to October 7, up more than 4% compared to October 7. Recording an increase of more than 12.8% compared to the previous month.
According to TradingEconomic, the current unpredictable increase in world crude oil prices is largely due to political instability in the Middle East when Israel, Iran and Hezbollah retaliated against each other. This caused crude oil prices to increase sharply at times. In addition, high demand for oil in markets such as the US supported crude oil prices.

Domestic gasoline prices today
Domestically, retail gasoline prices on October 8 are as follows:
E5 RON 92 gasoline is not more than 18,850 VND/liter.
RON 95-III gasoline is not more than 19,803 VND/liter.
Diesel oil not more than 17,401 VND/liter.
Kerosene not more than 17,651 VND/liter.
Fuel oil not more than 15,003 VND/kg.
In the last two days, domestic gasoline prices may increase due to the influence of world prices. Import prices are currently about VND1,000 per liter higher than domestic retail prices.
The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department is requesting relevant units to strengthen inspection and supervision of the issuance of electronic invoices for petrol stations.
From May to July 2024, the number of electronic invoices issued at gas stations increased to 74 million, 4 times higher than the same period last year.
The output of petroleum products sold reached 997 million liters/kg, an increase of 1.85 times compared to the same period last year, when it was only 537 million liters/kg. The average output is now 13 liters/kg per invoice, down from 29 liters/kg last year.
