In the introduction to episode 20, Hong is explaining to Khuong about using his younger brother to lure Quân "the old man's" men, leading to the failed assassination attempt on Hung "the hoarse." Khuong asks, "What was that lion dance about this afternoon, brother? You're plotting something again, aren't you? You knew I was choking on smoke, yet you still threw a smoke bomb." Hong replies, "I did that to lure Quân's men. He's angry at me and you, that's why he sent assassins. I have a great plan. Tan messaged me to meet his father. I want you to go there and directly ask him to help us fight Quân." This is the first time Hong has asked Khuong for help, and of course, Khuong immediately agrees, but whether it will succeed or not remains to be seen.
In another development, Diem met with Hong privately and said, "What do you think if I 'sell myself' to you? Who knows, maybe someday you'll find me to be someone worth cooperating with?" Hong replied, "We'll see then." Diem continued, "You don't need women or money, but I know what you need."
Also in this episode, Quân "the old man" is furious when the assassination attempt on Hưng "the hoarse" fails. Quân tells Dũng "the glasses-wearing one": "Hồng wants to get into Hưng 'the hoarse's' house by any means? No matter what, Hưng must die on the right day and at the right time. "The Lone Path" tells the story of Hong, an unfortunate child who lost both parents and his only remaining relative, as he seeks justice for his family. After this great tragedy, Hong becomes a homeless wanderer and is taken in by Mrs. Moc, the second wife of Le Toan, a former gangster who has since retired. Toan trusts Hong and chooses him to manage the Le family's business empire.
While investigating the cause of his parents' deaths, Hong suspects Mr. Toan is connected to three dangerous drug lords. Hong is drawn into a battle between gratitude and suspicion, between good and evil, as he continues his search for the truth.
While Hong was tracking the drug lords, he was unaware that all his actions, as well as those of his criminal group, were under the surveillance of the police. Lieutenant Colonel Long, the head of the drug investigation department, had been transferred from the province to serve as deputy to Phung, the district police chief; he was also Long's long-time friend.
Long realized Hong was a crucial element in the investigation and decided to use her as part of his crime-solving strategy. Long moved closer to the "kingpins" and the secret drug bunker. As they delved deeper into their goal, Long and Hong discovered that behind the large shipments, the crimes, and the financial gains lay a "history" of "hatred" and "gratitude," where "friendship" turned into "hostility" between people who once considered each other brothers and comrades on the same front...
The film centers around Hong, a victim of crime, exposing the conspiracy of those who, for money, spread "white death" (heroin) throughout society. The film helps viewers better understand the police force – those who silently sacrifice themselves, facing dangers to protect the peace of the nation.
