October 16, 1948:Traditional Day of the Party Inspection Sector. In the Viet Bac resistance base, the Central Party Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 29QN/TW on the establishment of the Central Inspection Committee. The first leaders of the Central Inspection Committee included comrades: Tran Dang Ninh, member of the Party Central Committee; Nguyen Thanh Binh, member of the Standing Committee of the Regional Party Committee; Ha Xuan My (Ha Minh Quoc), member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Tran Dang Ninh was appointed by the Central Committee to hold the position of Head of the Committee.

October 16, 1957:Revolutionary activist Tran Quoc Thao died in Saigon. His real name was Ho Xuan Luu, born in 1914 in Quang Tri province. He was appointed Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon Regional Party Committee and helped develop the political struggle movement in the inner city. In the same year, he was arrested, brutally tortured and died heroically.

October 16, 1973:The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Vietnamese advisor Le Duc Tho and Henry Kissinger, special advisor to the US President.
