Heavy rain in Nghe An: Vegetables submerged, 4 buffaloes killed by lightning
In some localities in Nghe An, heavy rain lasting from last night until this morning (October 21) caused many crop areas to be deeply flooded, and in some places lightning struck and killed 4 buffaloes.

On the morning of October 21, according to information from the People's Committee of the communeDien Phu (Dien Chau)On the evening of October 20, there was heavy rain with thunder and lightning in the commune. Because they had not yet been herded back to the barn, 4 of the 34 buffaloes of Mr. Dang Trong Thanh (Hamlet 3, Dien Phu) were struck by lightning and died in the field, with estimated damage of about 100 million VND. This morning, the 4 buffaloes were slaughtered by the owner, calling on people to buy them to support him.
Mr. Dang Trong Thanh, the owner of the buffalo herd, said: "By noon today, the buffalo meat had been almost completely purchased by the people. However, due to the rescue price, only 35% of the actual value was recovered."

Prolonged heavy rains also submerged hundreds of hectares of crops in Dien Thinh commune (Dien Chau). The most severely damaged area was the Dong peanut area with 255 hectares in the tuber-nourishing stage; 109 hectares of corn in the harvest period and about 25 hectares of various vegetables.

Mr. Hoang Van Hai - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dien Thinh Commune said: "If it continues to rain, the entire winter crop area will be damaged. The winter peanut area alone has been heavily flooded twice. In just about 15 days, the peanuts can be harvested, but now the flood water makes it very easy for the tubers to rot. The corn crop has just begun to be harvested, the corn is old and dry, and now it is soaked in rainwater and is very easy to rot, mold and sprout."
In Lang Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), heavy rain also caused Suong Le overflow bridge and Doc Cau connecting Lang Thanh with the road to Tan Ky to be deeply flooded.

The commune authorities have put up warning signs, strictly prohibiting people from passing through; at the same time, they have announced on social networking groups, zalo and the village and commune's broadcasting system that the bridge is deeply flooded so that people know and choose to travel through other residential roads to ensure safety.
