October 26, 1965:The army and people of Bach Long Vi Island (Hai Phong) shot down the 700th and 701st American aircraft in the North. That glorious victory had great significance in destroying enemy forces. It was a collective victory of the army and people of Bach Long Vi Island in particular and the whole North in general under the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho.

October 26, 1975:Naval Region 5 founding date.

October 26, 1985:Vietnam and the Soviet Union signed oil and gas cooperation documents for the period 1986 - 1990. Based on the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and the Soviet Union on cooperation in geological exploration and oil and gas exploitation in the southern continental shelf of Vietnam, in 1981 the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture was established.

October 26, 2002:Russian special forces stormed the Dubrovka Theater (Moscow) to rescue more than 800 hostages. After 3 days of unsuccessful negotiations, Russian special forces decided to use a type of gas to free the hostages. As a result, most of the terrorists were killed, the hostages were saved, but more than 120 people died from inhaling toxic gas. (According to history.com)
