Cua Lo and 4 communes of Nghi Loc district officially merged into Vinh city from December 1, 2024.

From December 1, 2024, Cua Lo town will officially no longer be a district-level administrative unit of Nghe An, but will merge and become a part of Vinh city.

On behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man has just signed and issuedResolution No. 1243/NQ-UBTVQH15of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels of Nghe An province for the period 2023 - 2025.

Accordingly, regarding the arrangement of Vinh city, Cua Lo town, Nghi Loc district and affiliated commune-level administrative units, Resolution No. 1243/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee resolves:

Merge the entire natural area of ​​29.09 km2, population of 77,813 people of Cua Lo town and the entire natural area of ​​6.17 km2, population of 11,884 people of Nghi Xuan commune, the entire natural area of ​​6.12 km2, population of 10,409 people of Phuc Tho commune, the entire natural area of ​​9.50 km2, population of 11,006 people of Nghi Thai commune and the entire natural area of ​​10.35 km2, population of 11,831 people of Nghi Phong commune of Nghi Loc district into Vinh city.

After the arrangement, Vinh city has a natural area of ​​166.22 km2 and a population of 580,669 people; Nghi Loc district has a natural area of ​​313.88 km2 and a population of 209,326 people.

Vinh City will establish 4 more wards: Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phuc and Nghi Duc, specifically:

Establish Hung Dong ward on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​6.42 km2 and population of 17,784 people of Hung Dong commune; bordering Quan Bau ward, Dong Vinh ward, Nghi Kim commune and Hung Nguyen district;

Establish Hung Loc ward on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​6.72 km2 and population of 26,321 people of Hung Loc commune; bordering Ha Huy Tap, Hung Dung, Nghi Duc, Nghi Phu wards and Hung Hoa, Nghi Phong, Nghi Thai communes;

Establish Nghi Phu ward on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​6.47 km2 and population of 25,032 people of Nghi Phu commune; bordering Ha Huy Tap, Hung Loc, Nghi Duc, Quan Bau wards and Nghi An, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien communes;

Establish Nghi Duc ward on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​5.69 km2 and population of 9,365 people of Nghi Duc commune; bordering Hung Loc ward, Nghi Phu ward, Nghi An commune and Nghi Phong commune;

In addition, the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee resolves:

Merge the entire natural area of ​​0.50 km2 and population of 8,692 people of Hong Son ward into Vinh Tan ward. After merging, Vinh Tan ward has a natural area of ​​5.54 km2 and a population of 32,157 people.

Vinh Tan Ward borders Cua Nam, Quang Trung, Trung Do wards, Hung Chinh commune and Hung Nguyen district;

Merge the entire natural area of ​​0.67 km2, population of 12,618 people of Doi Cung ward and the entire natural area of ​​0.87 km2, population of 13,713 people of Le Mao ward into Quang Trung ward. After merging, Quang Trung ward has a natural area of ​​2.12 km2 and a population of 38,511 people.

Quang Trung Ward borders Cua Nam, Dong Vinh, Hung Binh, Le Loi, Truong Thi and Vinh Tan wards.

After the arrangement, Vinh city has 33 commune-level administrative units, including 24 wards: Ben Thuy, Cua Nam, Dong Vinh, Ha Huy Tap, Hung Binh, Hung Dung, Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Hung Phuc, Le Loi, Nghi Duc, Nghi Hai, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Huong, Nghi Phu, Nghi Thu, Nghi Thuy, Nghi Tan, Quan Bau, Quang Trung, Thu Thuy, Trung Do, Truong Thi, Vinh Tan and 09 communes: Hung Chinh, Hung Hoa, Nghi An, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien, Nghi Thai, Nghi Phong, Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho.

Vinh City will also, for the first time in its history, become a coastal city with administrative boundaries bordering Hung Nguyen district, Nghi Loc district; Ha Tinh province and the East Sea.

The Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee also resolved to dissolve the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Cua Lo town. The People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Vinh city are responsible for inheriting the tasks and powers of the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Cua Lo town, Nghe An province according to the provisions of law.

Resolution No. 1243/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Nghe An province for the 2023-2025 period takes effect from December 1, 2024.

"From the effective date of this Resolution, Nghe An province has 20 district-level administrative units, including 17 districts and 2 towns," Resolution No. 1243 clearly states.

Thus, from December 1, 2024, Cua Lo town will officially no longer be a district-level administrative unit of Nghe An, but will merge and become a part of Vinh city.
