Nghe An journalist in Ho Chi Minh City launches charity program 'Helping children go to school'

On November 9, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Nghe An Journalists Club celebrated its 5th anniversary and launched the charity program "Helping Children Go to School" with the goal of donating 3,000 bicycles to poor students in Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

On November 9, 2024, the Nghe An Journalists Club in Ho Chi Minh City celebrated its 5th anniversary in a warm and solemn atmosphere. The event was an opportunity for the Club to summarize its activities and connect members and those who love their homeland Nghe An - Ha Tinh who are working in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a strong bond and promoting volunteer activities towards their homeland.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Xuan Hai - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Journalists Association of Ha Tinh province; Nguyen Thanh Hien - former Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Association for Promotion of Education.

Also attending were comrades: Pham Ngoc Canh - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Tran Minh Ngoc - Director of Nghe An Radio and Television Station, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association.

On behalf of the Nghe An Journalists Club, there were Lieutenant Colonel - Journalist Dang Trung Kien - Club Chairman, Deputy Head of the Southern Representative Office of the People's Army Newspaper, along with a team of deputy chairmen and more than 200 members who are journalists working in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the celebration, the Club launched the program "Helping children go to school" - a highly humane social activity with the goal of donating 3,000 bicycles to poor students in Nghe An and Ha Tinh. This is a charity program to help reduce the difficulties for children of poor families in rural areas in traveling and studying.

Lieutenant Colonel - Journalist Dang Trung Kien - Club Director shared: "There are dreams that seem simple but are great wishes for many children in difficult areas, that is a bicycle to go to school. We hope that through this program, children will have more motivation to pursue education, realize their dreams and improve their future."

The program "Helping children go to school" is not only a short-term plan but will continue to be implemented, connecting with donors and businessmen who love their homeland Nghe An - Ha Tinh. From there, the Club aims to build a sustainable scholarship fund, supporting poor students not only in terms of material but also encouraging them to overcome difficulties and move forward on the path of learning.

At the event, representatives of businessmen and the Club presented 400 bicycles to poor students who are studying in their hometowns of Ha Tinh and Nghe An.

The 5th anniversary ceremony is also an opportunity for the Club to consolidate its Board of Directors, prepare development plans and expand its activities in the future. On this occasion, the leaders of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to the Club and outstanding individuals for their outstanding contributions to social work and communication. This is the recognition of the provincial leaders for the members' tireless efforts in connecting and supporting the community.

Over the past 5 years, the Nghe An Journalists Club in Ho Chi Minh City has had many practical and effective activities. The club's contributions are demonstrated through hundreds of charity programs, including awarding more than 1,100 scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties, building 13 houses of gratitude for disadvantaged households, giving 300 mats to students in Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province and building a boarding house for a primary school in the mountainous area in Ky Son district, Nghe An province. In addition, the club also donated 20 sets of computers to schools in the mountainous areas of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, contributing to improving learning conditions for students in disadvantaged areas.

The Club has also actively carried out communication activities to spread the beautiful image of the Nghe An - Ha Tinh community in Ho Chi Minh City, creating solidarity and attachment among the children of Nghe An far from home. In particular, the Club has coordinated the production of reports introducing the life of Nghe An - Ha Tinh people in Ho Chi Minh City, thereby attracting the attention and support of benefactors. After broadcasting a report on the need to build a school in Ky Son, the Club called for and mobilized 3.2 billion VND from sponsors to build Bac Ly 2 Primary School, bringing better learning opportunities to children in the highlands.

Not only is it an organization that gathers journalists from Nghe An - Ha Tinh, the Club has also become a professional forum where members exchange expertise, share journalism experiences and maintain professional ethics. Professional activities and exchanges are regularly held with the participation of veteran journalists and experts in the journalism industry. This not only helps members improve their skills but also inspires and encourages each other in their work, thereby contributing to the development of journalism in a positive and ethical direction.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Club has played a bridging role, calling for and supporting Nghe An people in Ho Chi Minh City who are facing difficulties to return home. Many members are collaborators of major newspapers and have actively reported on activities to support people in Ho Chi Minh City, creating solidarity and mutual support in the community. In particular, members also participate in communication activities, helping Nghe An people living in Ho Chi Minh City overcome difficult times due to the pandemic.

With the mission of connecting, sharing and promoting the spirit of the homeland, the Nghe An Journalists Club in Ho Chi Minh City is not only a place for journalists from Nghe An and Ha Tinh to develop their careers together, but also a meaningful organization, always looking towards the homeland, contributing to the development of the Nghe community across the country.

The Nghe An Journalists Club in Ho Chi Minh City was established on September 17, 2019, connecting fellow Nghe An journalists working in the South, creating conditions to support each other in life and career and always turn to their homeland through volunteer activities, spreading the spirit of patriotism and responsibility to the community.
