Improve the effectiveness of propaganda work on territorial borders
On the morning of November 11, in Vinh city, Nghe An, the National Border Committee - Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to disseminate information about territorial borders. The conference was attended by ministries, departments, branches, localities; officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.
Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces both have borders with Lao PDR and have sea areas that occupy important strategic positions in terms of socio-economic development, national defense and security. The sea areas of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, together with the sea area of Ha Tinh province, form a central sea route of the North Central region.

Regarding the land border, the terrain of the Vietnam - Laos border area is relatively diverse and complex, with many ethnic groups living not concentrated along the border and in the border area. In particular, the land border of Nghe An province is more than 468 km long, the longest in the country in terms of the border adjacent to Laos. This border also has complex terrain, many high mountains, and the harshest weather compared to the 10 pairs of provinces on the Vietnam - Laos border.

In recent years, with the attention of the Government, ministries and central branches, infrastructure, economic, cultural and social life in the land border areas and islands of Nghe An province have been improved; propaganda and dissemination of laws have been enhanced, contributing to raising legal awareness for officials and people in border and coastal areas.

However, in general, the level of education of the people living along the border areas is not uniform; people's lives still face many difficulties; awareness of the territory, national borders, and sovereignty over seas and islands still has certain limitations. Therefore, enhancing the effectiveness of propaganda work on national borders and territories is an extremely important and necessary task in the current period.

Recognizing that importance, every year, Nghe An Department of Foreign Affairs advises the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Border Steering Committee to strengthen information and propaganda work on national territorial borders; especially regularly organizing training conferences and propaganda on land borders and islands in border localities.
This conference of the National Border Committee will be an opportunity for key officials, those who directly advise on the management and protection of land and sea borders of departments, branches, sectors and localities of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, to acquire more knowledge to do better in their professional work, especially information and propaganda work at the grassroots level.

At the conference, more than 200 delegates, including leaders of departments, branches, border districts, and armed forces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces, were briefed by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the following topics: Border and territorial work contributes practically to consolidating and strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; The East Sea issue and the policies of our Party and State; The situation of combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
