Nghia Mai is a particularly difficult commune of Nghia Dan district. But now, when visiting, everyone will be surprised at the change in the appearance of this countryside. Traffic routes, from main roads to alleys have been paved with asphalt, concrete, many new constructions create favorable conditions for economic development, improving the quality of life of the people.
In addition to some roads under the budget investment project, in 2023 - 2024, Nghia Mai commune was supported with more than 1,000 tons of cement, hamlets and villages mobilized people to contribute sand and gravel to make concrete roads. In Mai Hop village, when there was a policy to make concrete roads, although the cement had not arrived, people cleared the corridor, widened the road, and contributed money to make concrete roads.

Mr. Le Van Hung, Mai Hop village, Nghia Mai commune said: "With the support from all levels and sectors, our people are very excited, contributing money and labor to build the road. Many sections were completed, people were very happy because traveling was more convenient, from then on, the road building movement was agreed upon by all people, who joined hands to carry out...".
As a purely agricultural village, in order to mobilize people to build roads, Mai Hop village organized a meeting, discussed plans, and then agreed on how to do it. In just 15 days, more than 165 households in Mai Hop village contributed more than 600 million VND, an average of 3 to 3.5 million VND per person. In addition, there were 50 households in the village who voluntarily donated more than 2,000m2land, dismantle walls, clear the site, contribute hundreds of working days to build 1.3 km of concrete road.
Mr. Tran Van Manh - Village Chief of Mai Hop Village, Nghia Mai Commune shared: “To do that, we organized meetings and mobilized people to participate in the emulation movement to build traffic. We worked in the form of clusters, families, and households, so the village's traffic road construction plan achieved very good results. In 2024, the village was given an additional 50 tons of cement, people contributed 450 million VND, with remaining funds, we are waiting for more cement to be mobilized to complete the entire concrete traffic system. Our people's wish is to be supported with more cement to concrete all roads."
To construct the roads on schedule and ensure quality, the villages are divided into small groups, each group elects a prestigious representative to be the group leader, each group is responsible for developing a road construction plan and estimating costs. Each work is implemented with discussion and publicity to each household, thereby creating a high consensus among the people.
Up to now, Nghia Dan district has mobilized more than 14,000 billion VND to build new rural areas, of which people contributed nearly 500 billion VND and donated more than 600,000m2land, contributing more than 350,000 working days.
In the purely agricultural area of Nghia Tho commune (Nghia Dan district), the government and people in the commune have actively implemented the construction and upgrading of the rural road system. Up to now, the movement of voluntarily donating land and contributing money to build rural roads has spread strongly, with the active participation and response of many people.
In Trong village (Nghia Tho commune), Mr. Vo Trang Trung - Party Cell Secretary said: "Depending on the conditions and circumstances of each household, we propose a suitable contribution level. For example, households with land area near the main road will have to contribute more, households that are poor households or policy families do not have to contribute. In the 2 years of 2023 - 2024, people in Trong village contributed over 500 million VND; cleared nearly 2,000m2land, more than 470m of fence and thousands of working days to concretize more than 3.5km of village roads. On average, each household contributes from 4 to 5 million VND, some households contribute up to 20 million VND.
To gradually close the concrete traffic system of villages and hamlets, the solidarity of residential areas and the close direction of the local government are promoted. Discussing this issue, Mr. Truong Cong Canh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Tho commune said: "The good news here is that through the movement of concreting rural traffic, the grassroots democracy regulations are actively and widely promoted according to the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people check". Thereby, people are also excited to promote their right to mastery, creating a change in awareness of not waiting, relying on but "The State and people work together" and work for their own benefit".
Along with cement support from the State and the provincial budget, Nghia Dan district has promoted propaganda and mobilized people, businesses, organizations and individuals in the district to participate in contributing and supporting cash and labor days for rural traffic construction.
Thanks to the new rural construction movement, the lives of people in Nghia Dan district have been increasingly improved. The achievements of the new rural construction have contributed to building livable rural areas with synchronous traffic and irrigation infrastructure, and improved living environment, thereby affirming the people's trust and solidarity in the innovation of their homeland and country.
The district has a policy of focusing on investing in the transportation network to facilitate people's lives, promote the production of agricultural and forestry products as well as business in various industries. Thereby, many services have developed rapidly, and rural areas have changed in an increasingly prosperous direction. On that basis, the entire district political system is actively mobilizing all resources, determined to complete all criteria for building a new rural district by 2025.
