On August 1, 1930, Party cells in Can Loc district, Ha Tinh mobilized the masses to participate in demonstrations. Red flags with hammer and sickle, bright red banners; gongs, trumpets, and bamboo clappers resounded in the hamlets and villages. The demonstration marched into the district capital. Faced with the powerful momentum of the masses, District Chief Tran Manh Dan had to bow his head at Nghen bridge to accept the demands of the masses.

On September 1, 1930, under the leadership of the district committee, over 20,000 farmers of Thanh Chuong district with sticks, spears, and lances marched from both banks of Lam river to Thanh Chuong district town. The sound of gongs and wooden fishes resounded continuously as if to give the people more strength to besiege the district office, punish the evil landlords, and take control of the commune and village.

The gong: Used as a signal to encourage the struggle of the people of Ky Anh district (September 9, 1930) along with the slogans and cheers of the demonstrators contributed to making the local mandarins terrified.

The movement in Ha Tinh spread to Huong Son and Huong Khe districts in September and October 1930.

Prison (of Mr. Nguyen Hong Dang in Phu Gia) used as a rallying signal to encourage the demonstrations of Huong Khe people in 1930.

The special weapon drum is associated with many typical struggles of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement:

- Drum of Loc Da village used in the Vinh-Ben Thuy worker-farmer demonstration on May 1, 1930.

- The drum of Phu Long commune was used to signal the beginning of the struggle of the people of Hung Nguyen (September 12, 1930).

- The drum of the Scholar's Church (Dang Son, Do Luong) was used to encourage the struggle of the people of Do Luong (September 8, 1930).

The drums of the Thai Yen people (Duc Tho district) resounded during the demonstration on the night of April 30, 1931 and the memorial service (April 29, 1931) for those who died in the raid at Thanh Long.

- The drum of the Vi family temple (Thai ethnic group in Mon Son, Con Cuong district) was used as a signal to encourage the people in the August 1931 struggle.

Drums, gongs, horns, crossbows, cymbals... have gone down in the history of the Nghe Tinh Soviet as weapons to encourage the struggle movement of the Nghe Tinh people, contributing to the victory of the revolution. As comrade To Huu wrote:

The Soviet drums of Nghe An resounded.
North - Central - South flooded with struggles
Coal mine, factory, thatched hut
Stand up to save yourself and win prosperity.
