During the 2024-2025 dry season, the Provincial Military Command's Martyrs' Remains Collection Team was assigned the task of searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos, specifically in the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Xaysomboun, and Vientiane.

Although the work of surveying, searching for, and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers faces many difficulties due to the harsh climate and weather, the graves of fallen soldiers are mainly located in high mountains, caves, deep forests, and areas previously targeted by the enemy, resulting in a large amount of unexploded bombs and mines. Information about the graves of fallen soldiers is increasingly scarce and scattered throughout the area; the terrain is complex and constantly changing, and roads are very difficult to access…
With the attention, leadership, guidance, and support of the 515 Steering Committee at all levels, as well as the Party committees, governments, armed forces, and people of the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Xaysomboun, and Vientiane (Laos), the team's officers and staff have overcome difficulties and successfully completed their assigned tasks.
After nearly a month of surveying, searching, and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers during the 2024-2025 dry season, the Provincial Military Command's Remains Collection Team has so far found and collected 9 remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts who died in Laos. Of these, 7 remains were collected in Xieng Khouang province and 2 remains were collected in Xaysomboun province. Currently, the remains of these fallen soldiers are being brought back to the unit's barracks in Phonsavan town, Xieng Khouang province (Laos) for worship.
Identifying the task of searching for and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers as a particularly important mission, it demonstrates profound gratitude towards the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the cause of national construction and defense, as well as for noble international duties. Officers and staff of the Fallen Soldiers' Remains Collection Team of the Provincial Military Command consistently and thoroughly understand the importance of this particularly significant task, strictly adhering to the directives of commanders at all levels; enhancing awareness, responsibility, and ensuring safety in all aspects during the mission. They closely coordinate with the Special Working Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party from the provincial to the grassroots level, effectively carrying out diplomatic and civilian affairs work; and promoting and mobilizing the Lao people to provide information about the graves of fallen soldiers. This allows them to proactively gather, survey, and verify information, ensuring accuracy for inclusion in future repatriation plans.
With utmost determination, undeterred by difficulties, working day and night in makeshift shelters and sleeping in the forest to search for, collect, and repatriate the remains of heroic martyrs to the Vietnamese Fatherland, the officers and staff of the Team for Collecting the Remains of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos are striving to achieve the highest possible results, towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
