At a meeting in Lima with US President Joe Biden on November 16, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that his country is ready to cooperate with the new administration of US President-elect Donald Trump, who will take office on January 20, 2025. This is the last meeting between Mr. Biden and Mr. Xi as US President.

According to a White House press corps quote, before the meeting on the sidelines of the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit taking place in Lima, the Chinese President said at the Delfines Hotel: "China is willing to work with the new US administration to maintain communication, expand cooperation and handle disagreements, in order to strive for a stable transition in China-US relations for the benefit of the two peoples."
The two leaders also discussed the situation surrounding the Ukraine crisis and the Asia-Pacific region. During his meeting with President Biden, President Jinping affirmed that China's stance on the Ukraine issue has always been fair and just. According to Xi Jinping, China has been conducting shuttle diplomacy and mediation to promote peace talks, making every effort for peace and aiming at de-escalation.
The Chinese president also stressed that Beijing will not allow conflict and instability to occur on the Korean Peninsula and will not sit idly by when its strategic security and core interests are threatened.

The Chinese president also warned the United States not to interfere in bilateral disputes over relevant islands and reefs in the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea, nor to support or abet provocations.
Xi Jinping affirmed that China is determined to protect its territory, sovereignty, rights and interests in the East Sea, and stressed that dialogue and consultation between relevant countries is always the best way to resolve disagreements in this region.

For his part, President Biden expressed concern about the information that North Korean soldiers participated in fighting in Russia's Kursk province. Speaking to reporters after the meeting between the US and Chinese leaders, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan confirmed: "The two leaders of course also discussed areas of difference and tension in the bilateral relationship, including US concerns about China's support for the Russian defense industry. In this context, President Biden once again expressed serious concern about the information that North Korea has deployed a significant force to Western Russia to participate in fighting in the war against Ukraine"./.
