According to the plan submitted to the National Assembly, the North-South high-speed railway section through Nghe An has a length of 85.5 km with the pick-up and drop-off point at Vinh Station.

Vinh Station is proposed to be located in Hung Tay Commune, Hung Nguyen District, between the 72m wide road axis of VSIP Industrial Park and the new National Highway 46 connecting the West with the city center. This is a 4-track station, all trains stop.

Vinh Depot is located in Hung Tan and Hung Thang communes (now Hung Nghia commune), Hung Nguyen district. Serving the exploitation of Ngoc Hoi - Vinh section.

High-speed railway depots are used to store and consolidate trains; at the same time, they are places to perform maintenance and repair of locomotives and rolling stock, and inspect road construction vehicles, etc.

On the total length of 85.5 km through Nghe An, it is planned to set up 2 stations to consolidate maintenance equipment (compacting machines, road chopping machines, ballast air conditioners, etc.) and store supplies and materials.

Station 1:Dien Hong Commune, Dien Chau District. Serving the maintenance and repair of the section in front of Vinh Station in the Thanh Hoa - Vinh section.

Station 2:Combined placement in Vinh depot ensures effective use of land and convenience in operations. Serving maintenance and repair for the section behind Vinh Station in Vinh - Ha Tinh section.

The route of the North-South high-speed railway through Nghe An is expected as follows:

Route from Hoang Mai to Than Vu mountain:After passing Truong Lam mountain, the route avoids Hoang Mai Cement Factory, going west, between the corridor of the current railway and the expressway according to local planning.

In Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts, the route runs parallel to the current railway, about 100m to 400m to the West.

Route from Than Vu mountain to Lam river:The route crosses Than Vu tunnel, avoids O O dam, follows the planned corridor through the Southeast Economic Zone, runs basically parallel to the east of the expressway. Then runs along the same corridor and is sandwiched between the expressway and the Vinh city bypass.

The route crosses the old National Highway 46, the current railway and Lam River in the old Hung Khanh commune (now Hung Thanh commune), Hung Nguyen district to enter Ha Tinh province.

The investment policy for the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis was submitted by the Government to the National Assembly for consideration on November 13.

According to the Government's proposal, the high-speed railway route passes through 20 provinces and cities; the route length is about 1,541 km. The starting point is Ngoc Hoi Station in Thanh Tri District, Hanoi City; the ending point, for passenger trains, is Thu Thiem Station in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City; for freight trains, the ending point is Trang Bom Station, Dong Nai Province.

The high-speed railway route passes through 20 provinces and cities with a total length of about 1,541 km, including 23 passenger stations, 5 freight stations and 4 freight train depots.

On the route, it is planned to arrange 5 depots for passenger trains in Hanoi, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, there are 3 passenger train depots combined with major repair areas in Ngoc Hoi (Hanoi); Da Nang and Long Truong (Ho Chi Minh City) and 2 passenger train depots without major repair areas in Vinh and Nha Trang stations.
- It is expected that 45 infrastructure maintenance facilities will be built on the route, including 5 locations located at the same location as the depot.

With the arrangement of 23 passenger stations, the average distance between stations is about 67 km. This is a suitable distance for the design speed of 350 km/h, suitable for the practical conditions of localities and world experience (with a speed of less than 250 km/h, the average distance between stations is about 30-50 km; with a speed of over 300 km/h, the distance between stations is about 50-70 km).
