Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung congratulated Vinh University on Vietnamese Teachers' Day
On the afternoon of November 18, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited and congratulated Vinh University on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024) and the 65th anniversary of the school's founding.
Also attending the working delegation were comrades: Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training; Dang Thanh Tung - Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Ngoc Tu - Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee.
At Vinh University, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his joy when visiting and congratulating the staff, lecturers and employees of Vinh University on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and the 65th anniversary of the school's founding; at the same time, sent his best wishes to all staff, lecturers and employees of Vinh University.
The Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that respecting teachers is a fine tradition of our nation, and the whole society always respects and is grateful to teachers for their career of "cultivating people", for the development of society and the country.
Recalling the formation process of Vinh University, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung said that up to now, the University has become a multidisciplinary university, a key national training center, with prestige not only in the North Central region but also in the whole country and Asia.
From 158 students of the first course and 17 staff and lecturers, Vinh University now has nearly 40,000 students with 120 training majors at university and postgraduate levels along with preschool and general education. The staff is over 1,000 people, of which, doctoral degrees account for about 60%, with 62 professors, associate professors, and senior lecturers.
In the past 5 years, Vinh University has been in the top 15 Vietnamese universities with the most international publications. The school's training programs have been accredited with the rate of meeting and excellent criteria in the top 5 highest achieving universities in the country.
With many achievements in training high-quality human resources for the country, Vinh University has been awarded many noble titles and awards by the Party and State, such as: Title "Hero of Labor in the renovation period", twice awarded the First Class Independence Medal, Third Class Labor Medal, Friendship Medal of the Lao People's Democratic Republic...
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary and Provincial People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Trung warmly congratulated the achievements and results that Vinh University has achieved in the process of formation and development, especially in the 2023-2024 school year.
Sharing the situation of Nghe An province, especially the results of socio-economic development, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that those results have important roles and contributions of Vinh University, especially in training high-quality human resources.
Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, has determined to develop Vinh University into a prestigious training center in the region and the world; in addition, striving to build Vinh University into a smart university, in the top 500 in Asia. Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung affirmed to always support Vinh University to implement and complete the above goals.
In order for Vinh University to achieve its set goals, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung said that the school needs to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity from the Party Committee, the School Council, the Board of Directors, between faculties, departments, between staff and lecturers... for the common goal. Once the goal is determined, the ideology must be clear, focused, determined, and implemented with focus, not scattered.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung also requested Vinh University to imbibe and strictly implement the Prime Minister's viewpoint: "In education, students must be the center and subject; teachers must be the driving force; schools must be the support; families must be the fulcrum; and society must be the foundation."
On the other hand, Vinh University needs to continue reviewing the implementation of resolutions and development projects that are most suitable to reality, especially at the present time, in line with the guiding viewpoint of the Central Committee and General Secretary To Lam on streamlining the apparatus to operate effectively and efficiently in the direction of "Streamlined - lean - strong - efficient - effective - efficient".
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung also hopes that Vinh University will continue to improve the quality of teaching and training; increase enrollment targets at all levels and training majors; prioritize training in majors and professions that are suitable for development goals in the new period; thereby helping Nghe An province, the North Central region and the Central Coast region to well implement the goals in the Resolutions of the Politburo, including the requirements on the quality of human resources to meet development requirements.
In addition, the school needs to strengthen research, development, and technology transfer; promote international cooperation to take advantage of resources, experience, and knowledge to achieve development goals; pay attention to building the team and the lives of staff, lecturers, and workers.
