Nghe An returns to the top 10 FDI attraction, ranking 9th out of 63 provinces and cities in 11 months of 2024

By the end of November 2024, Nghe An attracted more than 1.56 billion USD of FDI capital, ranking 9th out of 63 provinces and cities.

Data recently released by the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment shows that from the beginning of this year to the end of November 2024, Nghe An attracted 15 new projects with registered capital of 691.5 million USD and adjusted capital for 12 projects with a total capital of 877.16 million USD; in addition, there was 1 capital contribution to buy shares with a value of 0.04 million USD.

Thus, the total FDI capital in Nghe An reached 1.5687 billion USD; an increase of 120.5% over the same period; bringing Nghe An back to the top 10 provinces and centrally-run cities attracting the highest FDI capital since the beginning of the year, after being out of the top 10 for the first 10 months of the year.

Nghe An is also the only locality in the North Central and Central Coast regions to be listed in the top 10 FDI attractions in the first 11 months of this year.

Overall, foreign investors invested in 55 provinces and cities across the country in the first 11 months of 2024.

Bac Ninh leads with total registered investment capital of nearly 5.04 billion USD, followed by Quang Ninh with more than 2.29 billion USD.

Ho Chi Minh City ranked third with total registered investment capital of more than 2.28 billion USD, Hai Phong ranked fourth with total registered investment capital of more than 2.1 billion USD, Hanoi ranked fifth with more than 2 billion USD.

Binh Duong ranked 6th with more than 1.8 billion USD, Ba Ria - Vung Tau ranked 7th with more than 1.7 billion USD, Dong Nai ranked 8th when attracting more than 1.6 billion USD.

Nghe An ranked 9th with more than 1.56 billion USD and 10th was Bac Giang with nearly 1.2 billion USD.

With the above results, according to the Foreign Investment Agency, Nghe An currently has 165 valid FDI projects with a total capital of more than 5.5 billion USD, ranking 22nd out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

According to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, it is expected that in 2024, the province will attract 1.696 billion USD of FDI capital. Previously, in 2023, Nghe An attracted FDI capital exceeding 1 billion USD for the first time; reaching 1.603 billion USD, an increase of 66.8% compared to 2022, ranking 8th among provinces and cities nationwide.

In 2022, Nghe An attracted 961.3 million USD, entering the top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI investment in the country for the first time.
